| I don't know if any of you remember I posted about Chloe's left pupil being bigger than her right, well we have been back and forth to the hospital seeing paediatricians and have seen one eye specialist, they all agreed that her left pupil is bigger than her right.
We had another appointment today with another eye specialist (a more senior one than the other one we saw) and it turns out it's not her left eye that is the problem it's her right eye and she has something called Horners Syndrome. Horner’s syndrome is a seldom encountered disorder affecting the sympathetic nerves in neck which transmit signals from brain to eyes and face. Interruption of these signals results in a triad of symptoms affecting only one side of face.
They asked if I had noticed that her right eye droops and to be honest yes I had but I thought it was because she was tired and also does she suffer with dry skin on her right side of her face and yes she does. Apparantly these are all signs of Horners Syndrome along with the pupil thing but unless you have heard of Horners Syndrome you wouldn't put all the things together. We have also worked out she was born with the syndrome after going through a load of photos.
Our next step is another appointment in 9 months time as her eyesight will be fully developed by then and they will be able to check whether having Horners Syndrome is having an affect on her eyesight.
Thankfully its something that might just disappear or she could have it for life....we just don't know, only time will tell.... Anyway enough of my waffle..hope all you ladies are well x
