Jamie's been ill for the last couple of days. He just alternates between coughing and screaming unless his well dosed up and isn't sleeping, even in bed with us (which I think is part of the reason his screaming as his so tired). He doesn't have a temperature so there doesn't seem much point taking him to the dr although his getting so wheezy that we may end up having to take him to hospital (not particularly worried about that as we had to do it a few times with my nephew). We've propped his cot up but I wondered if there was anything else I can do. Its a chesty cough so the medicine his allowed (which I think is only syrup anyway) won't make any difference and we're double dosing with calpol and neurofen. We have a calpol plug in thing but his nose is running rather than bunged up so I don't think it wil help. Is there anything else? I have suggested to hubby we take shifts tonight and sit up with him as that seems to be the only way he can sleep for any length of time but he doesn't seem keen

we would probably sit up with him like you say - at least then he can get some sleep and his body will be better at repairing itself...hard work though x

Get him in the bathroom, shut the door and windows and get the shower or bath running hot to create a load of steam, should loosen and relieve his chest
