I've had pain in my upper back around the bottom of my shoulder blade for around 24 hours now, it's not too bad when I'm still but as soon as I move I'm in agony, today it's spread to my chest slightly and hurts to yawn or take deep breaths or if I cough. Any ideas what it could be?

Im no expert but I suffered from something similar to this when I was pregnant with Lily. I felt like I had an awful knot in my back and the only thing that helped it was if James kind of rubbed it really hard. It hurt, but it gave me a little relief until the next day.

could be a strained muscle? I know it's a bit early but when I had awful heartburn I didn't even know it, it started under my shoulder blades and spread upwards and then to my chest, I thought I was having a heart attack!!! So it could be that?? Or trapped wind? Maybe have some deflatine or gaviscon, both are safe in pregnancy x

Mandy, I would talk to your midwife tomorrow and explain it to her. I'm sure it's nothing to worry about but I'd still get checked out.

hun im not sure if its pregnancy related cos i get that sometimes now. its right between my shoulder blades ad hurts when i breathe in. im sure its trapped wind!! x
