What is your fave beverage to have on a weekend?
I am a white wine and lemonade girl....
Am asking as I am looking to get something for SIL and was thinking a bottle of something but no idea what she likes

i like red wine but it has to be a good one or morgans and coke , failing that nothing beats a good old pint

I used to drink vodka and diet coke at the weekend... havent had one since March and tbh the thought of one makes me feel ill. Not sure if I could ever drink one again

Blue wkd I like, I usually have it in a wine glass with xmas dinner

Used to drink Southern Comfort and lime at college but havent had one in about 5 years or more.

Malibu and coke reminds me of holidays.

Oh and as for wine I like rose.

oh ive not had tia maria in so long , i used to have a little ritual children in need night , a bottle of tia maria ,a bottle of coke , and a box of tissues
how sad of me !

i used to drink peach schnapps and irn bru or pints of stella - before those days we used to get a litre of vodka, 500ml of irn bru, drink as much vodka as you can have a mouthful of irn bru and repeat

haven't had a drink since i was 24 though so i would probably throw up at the smell of it

i found that i was using it as a social crutch, and decided i would rather work on finding confidence to go out and meet people without needing to drink - i also saw my friends going to the pub every night and not doing anything with their lives....i was already in uni and drank very rarely by then and thought there was probably more to life. now i can't stand it, i won't speak to people if they have been drinking - why would you want to poison your body to the point where it can't function properly??! where's the fun in that?

I don't normally drink at home...but have discovered Merrydown Cider & Black .. mmmmmmmmmm its scrummy yummy! Although I think I got an allergic reaction to that or my chinese.. hope its was the chinese lol

Mari you wont speak to people if they've been drinking?! So you don't speak much on a night out then?! Also I don't know many people of my age that get drunk to the point they cant control themselves...

haha lisa, "cider and black" along with "vodka and black" and "pernod and black" and "larger and black" are drinks from my mis-spent youth!!!

But I agree, once you get to a certain age, you have a drink because you like and not because you want to get pissed. I don't get pissed as I really don't like hangovers. I don't use drink as a social crutch either as I can talk to anyone anyway (whether they like it or not)!

Same here Penny, most people I know are more than capable of having a drink sensibly and don't want to feel sick or have a hangover ... we got over that years ago
If I went out and didn't speak to anyone who was drinking...well seeing as about 9/10 people do drink on a night out...its rather limiting!

Champagne! Although it tends to be the occasional glass of wine now.



Mari do you mean you won't talk to anyone who has been drinking or just those that have drunk too much. Admittedly drunk people can be annoying (one of my friends recently got thrown out of a club and then a taxi because she was sick - fortunately I wasn't there). Most people I know though just have a few drinks and are fine

i make a considered effort not to spend time with people who have been drinking full stop - and that means not going on nights out, who on earth would want to do that sober?!

Im like that when pregnant. I would never dream of having a night out sober (prob not what Mari means, in fact that prob makes me a total alchi thinking like that lol). I had friends over a few weeks ago for dinner and one of them was drinking as she was going out to a club after. OMG my patience was at zero. I cant cope with conversations being repeated, talking getting louder, giggling at crap, focusing on one topic for ages and then flitting off to another topic just as point is being made.....
She wasnt even out of control drunk, just at that flushed giddy stage after 3 bacardi's & coke.

I know im the same when im drunk, but sober ppl and ppl that have had more than 2 drinks dont mix in my personal experience. maybe im weird or my friends are just twats!
If iv had a drink or 2 on the other hand I become witty, hilarious, good loooking, an intellectual.... bascially as big a knob as the rest of them but I dont care until the next morning!

weirdly me and russ were talking about me drinking last night and this will be my 4th xmas without a tipple and i dont mind.

but if i was to drink which is once in a blue moon it would be rose wine (blossom hill) or dark rum and coke.

as we have grown older me and russ have realised that we just dont drink, crikey when i worked abroad i was drunk every night and could hold my drink, but now i think one glass and i'd be hungover next day, so dont see point

Ive done the whole drinking to excess thing in my younger days and am now a rare drinker and even when I do i tend to stop after maybe 3 but i go on nights out when people are drinking and im sober and just leave before they get to the daft stage. I doubt id ignore people who are drinking full stop cos at the end of the day one or two isnt really a biggy is it? I do spend a lot of time talking to drunks at work though hence avoiding that part of the evening

I tend to drink White wine, usually Chablis if I'm drinking over dinner otherwise I like quite sweet drinks, so Malibu and coke, smirnoff ice, and baileys.

I don't drink very often and hardly ever get drunk anymore

I like a good quality dry white wine or cider in summer and i love champagne. I used to drink vodka and diet coke when i went out but that doesnt happen now. I dont really drink much now.

mine is a good chardonnay (most nights) and a nice prosecco

I dont drink as much as i used to but i love getting drunk!!

My fave tipple is a nice icy cold pint of Fosters mmmmmm x
