Thomas has been signed up to start pre-school in Jan for a while so I rang them this week to see what the start date is and find out arrangements for a settling in day etc. They rang me back today to say that start date is 3rd Jan and because he can't do his settling in day the week before like they would normally do (new year/xmas etc) they have said he can do his on 23rd December which is their Christmas party

I'm so excited for him because he's never really been to a kids party other than his and Hannah's small family ones, he's quite shy really but I do think he will love it once he settles in. I can't wait for January now, it's probably v sad but taking Thomas to 'school' 3 days a week will give me a reason to get up and dressed in a morning as at the mo we don't get out much and don't really know anyone. I think I will probably be more nervous than him on the first day because I'm not very confident meeting new people but hoping to maybe make a few friends of my own too

Aw that's great news debs, Im sure he's going to love it.

I met some lovely friends when my older kids were little, just through chatting at the nursery gates (there are some knobs though) and they're still my friends now

I took Charlie to his first birthday party last weekend, he had a great time and we met a really nice couple there as well! Its quite sad but I'm excited I have a new friend! Lol

awww im sure he will love it, our babies are growing up too quick. Alfie should start in april but because we have only just moved here there isnt any places, he wont start till september now boo xx

Thats great Deb...and I know how you feel! Ive been wanting to get Izzy in for months..then found a nursery 15 minutes walk away that could take her this week! So she started this morning!

They are VERY flexible and do slots as short as 2 hours..so I could pick my times...so I decided to go 8.30-1.30 Mondays and Fridays ..... to get me up and dressed early!


She absolutely loved it and I am so pleased I got her in somewhere!

That's great Lisa! Thomas' isn't as flexible as that, they only do 2x full day (9-3) and one half (9-12) so he is doing tues full, weds half, thurs full. That way we can still get long weekends away if we want to visit family until next sept when he will move (possibly) and do 5 mornings. This one is about 15 mins walk to and its a HUGE hill so will be a bit of a work out pushing Hannah up that hill twice a day 3 times a week

I really hope I do make some friends, I'm worried as I don't tend to come across very well until people get to know me (I don't make a very good first impression ) so hope I don't scare people off

ah thats brilliant I know you've wanted him to be able to play with other children for a while.

I'm always so busy now doing the school run. i like Fridays as there is no school on friday (confuses me a bit as for half the day i think its saturday)

LOL Debs... I had jelly-legs on Monday cos I went the wrong way, well not wrong as such...just went the way that goes up a hill...I thought I was going to pass out

So this morning I went another direction and it was much easier and about 5 min less walk!

Thing is taking the car would be a right pain in the butt as there is a school next to it and the whole place, even the grassed areas are full of cars dropping kids off ... besides I need the exercise!

I'm like that all the time Kel - I actually have to check my phone to see what day it is a lot of the time. We have no structure at the mo coz Paul's shifts are still all over the place, will be nice to have a weekly routine going.

Lisa - I'm the same, I could have the car if I really wanted (although it would mean getting the kids up early and taking Paul to work some days) but I am looking forward to getting the exercise. There are two ways I can go - one is a long slow hill but it's on a really busy main road, the other is a huge steep hill but a quiet road which i think will be safer when Thomas is walking/on buggy board ah well I will have the Christmas exess to work off too so will do me good!

Andrew had 2 x 2 hour settling in sessions before his first full day and I got to stay with him for the first hour and I talked to quite a few of the mums there in that hour who I talk to at the gates and I know some others through groups I have been to

Andrew does 2 and a half days too and tbh I feel it is better that way as the full day means when he does go full time in September it won't be too much of a shock as he is used to ful days

Andrew has his first Christmas concert next week I can't wait!

Best way to meet ppl is through your kids! Have met some of the most amazing ppl/friends from taking my kids to school everyday. And...most of the mom's you meet are feeling the exact same way you are..which once the ice is broken..you will make life long friends. Found that while standing outside the school waiting for their bell to ring was one of my favorite times of day..oh..and you'd be shocked to see how many mom's keep their jammie bottoms on! LOL xxx

That sounds great Hun. I'm so rubbish and shy and think I come across really rude and boring, although frankly I am a little boring. E goes two mornings a week and loves it. If we could afford it she would do one more. Xx

he will love it. he will probably be expecting a party everyday though you will probably notice he wont be so shy anymore. hannah amazes me with how confident shes become since shes moved up to the 3-5 room just the other week. noticed such a huge difference in her already
