Sorry for all the christmas questions! Laughing

I'm going to put up my Christmas tree this week and was just wondering what you guys do about presents underneath? I have always placed Christmas presents around the base of my tree to hide the bottom and I just like the look. However this year with the whole Santa thing I'm not sure what to do and how to explain things scratch

We have basically gone down the route of 'Santa chooses and delivers everything but we send the money to santa to pay for stuff' - I think that way both us and santa should get equal credit Laughing We have also said that nanna and grandad and aunties and uncles etc will send Santa money too and he will leave presents at their houses for Thomas and Hannah (we will be going round all the houses as usual) and Santa will leave presents here for cousins and nanna, grandad etc which we will deliver ... you still with me? Laughing

Anyway because of this I don't know if I can put presents around the tree and how I would explain them to Thomas? What do you do?

xx

Get one a' these?

Christmas tree... 8474194.70634e6a69649458c5

Also, with us, Father Christmas will be 'giving' stockings and one or two bigger presses, we're 'giving' the rest.
Family presses are just from them, no red man involved scratch You're right with him not getting all the credit bit though Laughing
I take it you're excited for the festivities then... santa

I've not gone in to depth about santa .. she knows about him (and recognises him cos she sat on his knee last year) but I've not specifically said santa brings the presents on Christmas eve, she also knows Mummy & Daddy buy gifts - at this age its hard to avoid them knowing you are buying gifts for other people isn't it .. so IF I could have got away with leaving them under the tree a week or so before I would have ...however there is no way the bike can cos obviously its large...and besides she'd want to pull the paper off everything else anyway cos she knows what presents are!

Also I like the thought of her seeing them all for the first time when she comes down on Christmas day

im sad because santa brings them all, but the elves are really busy and we have to help and send some to the north pole so he can deliver them out to people.

our presents are all hidden and will come out under the tree about 11pm Christmas eve when marc gets home from work x

We've just got the tree with no pressies, the pressies will be there christmas morning and thats it - I like the tree skirts you can buy but I can never find one that goes with my decor/decorations Embarassed

We've gone for Santa brings everything for Libby but she has seen us buy stuff for parents etc so we've told her we send them to Santa to deliver them - its funny what you make up when you're on the spot Laughing

Santa does the stocking and one big present, we buy the rest. I'm not putting mine under the tree until Christmas eve, I think it's nice to see their faces when they see all the presents, but also I don't think Chloe could resist the temptation of trying to open them

My mum always put presents from or for family under the tree and Santa bought the ones for the kids...
so ummm if my Nan got me a present that would be under the tree for a week or two, etc

Then christmas morning Santa would have delivered his gifts which we would open in the morning then after christmas dinner we would open the presents from family and that's when we would all exchange gifts.
so morning was all about the kids and Santa Very Happy

The presents under the tree are normally ones for our friends/relatives and then the odd one for Immi from friends/relatives. We leave the ones for Immi from Santa and us for christmas morning.

This year we have none under the tree cause Immi will just open them.

Ok, being as lame as I am, I would wrap up some empty boxes with the kids and say that they are for decoration under the tree and that way they know they are just to be pretty and not actual presents.

We are going with the whole 'santa brings the lot' theme for as long as possible (saves me getting the blame if I screw up and get the wrong pressie one year Very Happy - I can always blame Santa!).

Ok.. The presents under the tree are what I buy for family and kids understand this.. although Hayden being 2 1/2 and a new kitten I'm thinking they will be bagged ready to go to my parents on christmas day.
Hayden believes everything comes from santa as much as he can. Owen is 7 and believes I buy the main present ( this year a scooter) and santa buys and delivers the rest.. its hidden until christmas morning. Lewis 12 unfortunately just chooses what he wants Sad I drew the line this afternoon at £95 trainers!! Shocked

Santa used to deliver all the presents for the kids from us, until I split with L & O's dad.. in 2007 I then realised, daddy bought them presents and santa delivered presents anddidnt want the question "what did mummy buy "Nothing"" I couldn't do it! so explained I bought the "big" present. Laughing

I hide all the presents that I buy for the kids (from santa) even for the older two.

The pressies under the tree are from family and friends and the pressies that Im going to give to family and friends.

Anything under our tree is at risk of being murdered by the cats anyway so there are never any valuable/delicate things x

Erm not really sure what I'd do. If they're all from santa then I guess you have to leave them and put them round the tree once they've gone to bed on Christmas eve. TBH we've always had stockings from santa but the ones round the tree have been from family

Hhhhmmm ok still not too sure what to do - I don't like the thought of my tree without presents stacked around the bottom but then again I reckon madam will unwrap at any given opportunity so maybe I should try Laura's trick and wrap decoy pressies Smile

oooooh and I can ensure that they are all neat and colour coordinate the boxes with the tree decs too!! No winnie the pooh paper under my tree this year!! Laughing might even stick some ribbons and bows on too Very Happy

xx
