So come xmas day how do you go about the whole present unwrapping thing? We have never really done the whole feral diving in and each one for themself thing. Right from young I can remember doing a round robin where each person takes it in turn to open something while the rest watch. Makes it quite civilised and we get to see what everyones got and it stretches xmas day out nicely. Caelyn loved it last year and appointed herself present hander outer. Figure we will keep doing it with girls as like me if its what they always know they wont mind not diving in headfirst

How about the rest of you

We're the same as you. Not only that but I take the paper off carefully and then fold it up which drives Adam mad. Comes from my Dad although he then puts it on the fire

mmm well last year we left hannah to open all hers, then oh then me. but when family came down it was a bit of a riot.

I hope she will be a bit more considerate this year(not that she wasnt last just a bit too young to understand) and actually notice that there are presents for everyone and be excited about giving as well as opening her own

Hello Laughing

When I was a kid we just used to dive in so when Simon and I got together and his family would hand out a present to unwrap and the others watched I thought it was a bit weird at first Embarassed

But after so many years (14 to be exact Shocked ) I've come to realise it's a much better way of doing things, and even when round my parents we've kind of taken that way on too.

I will definately be doing it with my two as they older xx

Yeah we do the same as you hun, I'm far too nosy to miss out on what other people have got and I just LOVE giving out my presents to people, I enjoy that bit more than opening mine.

We kinda do a few round robins if you will, so each person gives out their presents to everyone and we open them together. So we usually open presents from my parents first, followed by my nanna, then ours etc. Takes blummin ages but we eat breakfast at the same time and just love it.

I would hate to just dive in coz it would be mayhem and stuff (or small children/dogs) would get lost in all the paper and nobody would know who gave what... NO! I'm far too anal for that malarky! Laughing

xx

No Im with you on a lot of stuff. I am incredibly anal. I have to clean the house xmas eve and new years ever and change the beds new years eve too. And have a bath, hairwash and clean pjs new years eve. Heaven forfend we should start a new year grubby.

With paper disposal I dont start a new pressie til ive gotten the paper put away as i find it distracting so i shove it all in a bag to keep it out the way while the next ones being pickd out the pile. I do try not to let anyone else notice im fluffing about though so as not to put a dampener to the unwrapping.

We have brekkie first and my pa has his 2nd cup of coffee, a tradition from when my mum was little, (Pa died 7 years ago but we still say it!), then we all gather round and the kids get to go under the tree and hand out the pressies and once that's done we open them in turn! Not sure how that will work this year with Rhys but will try and stick to it!

And yes I follow around with the rubbish bag too!

Oh no ooooo we dive in! Well for the presents from santa (my mum still does sacks for me and my sister) they are in a pile for each person so we just go through that and once that is done we then hand out the other presents and just all open them, it would take far too long if we took turns. Oh and I love to see the huge pile of paper in the middle of the room but oh likes to collect it up.

Last year we let Imogen have hers from Santa first, then we did round robin of everyone else's presents, with Imogen getting her presents from us/relatives in that.

This year it's only going to be the four of us so probs let Imogen open hers from Santa again first and Joshua can open his too, then we're alternative me, Matt and give Imogen the other bits from friends/relatives. We're leaving Buzz and Woody till the end cause she won't even look at anything else once she has them.

On Christmas Eve, I sort the presents into 3 piles (Mine, John and Bethany), then on Christmas day we take it in turns and last year Bethany was very good and excited when we were opening ours as well as when she opened her own. I used to do this little tradition when I lived at home, obviously after I stopped believing in Father Christmas xx

At home we let Aimee (now Lily) open their pressies first. Then we will get them to dish out mine and James's bits so they can help us unwrap them.

At his parents its a free for all and everybody just dives in and its utter mayhem x

i like to go last so i cn see what everyone else gets and that way mine last longer lol, but gracie does hers first no matter what. But down at marc's parents it has to go in age order youngest to eldest and i hate that, having to make gracie wait while 3 others open theirs first its like torture to her and logan our nephew who is the same age as all their presents are piled up in front of them

You're all so bloody civilised! Smile

It's a free for all in our house, but I usually wait for the kids to open theirs so I can watch, then I open mine.
