TTC and Graves Disease _
PostSubject: TTC and Graves Disease   TTC and Graves Disease EmptyWed Oct 26, 2011 12:05 pm

Hello ladies!

My OH and I were planning on TTC, but yesterday I was diagnosed with graves disease. Have just started tapazole, so my thyroid levels should start going down soon. Once they are steady and in the proper range, we can start TTC. anyone else TTC with Graves? It can be risky, apparently, and the baby can start to absorb my meds, which would make it hypo, instead of my hyper. That wouldn't be good. The other option, is to take radioactive iodine, and it kills the thyroid off completely. That would mean u have to ake pills for the rest of my life, just the other kind for hypothyroidism instead. With the tapazole, the second I know I have my BFP, I have to switch meds, because the tapazol is bad for the first trimester. I can't takethose meds now, because it is bad on the liver. Hopefully I will have a successful pregnancy with all these issues. Hopefully you will all have your BFP when I start TTC in a couple of months!!

I just reread that, and it sounds awful! LOL! I am using my phone, and it's so slow for some reason, and I can't see what I'm typing when I'm typing it. It takes forever to see it!

The radiation shouldn't make him infertile, but I guess there is always that chance. I wish we had of started TTC a year ago, then it wouldn't have been an issue at all. If only we had a crystal ball....

It is an auto immune disorder, affecting the thyroid. I have hyperthyroidism, and the cause of it is Graves disease. I lost 35lbs in about 3 months not doing anything.my heart started jumping, and my resting heart rate was around 110. Fat burning range! LOL! it can be risky to get preg, lots of chance of miscarriage. I guess that's because the body is burning through nutrients too fast.

Here an update. Basically, I am managing the graves disease with meds. My thyroid levels are still a bit elevated. The doc said not to TTC for at least 6 months, and my levels are steady. Well, we went off the pill two and a half weeks ago. It took me a few months to get my cycle regulated last time, so we figured we would get a headdress on that. Also, last blood work I had, the levels were on the high side of normal, which is where the doc said I had to be if preg. So after doing a lot of research, we decided to TTC. They have to switch my meds anyway, and my levels are okay. Not perfect, but okay. The only bad things we could Find, were people that had undiagnosed graves, and untreated. So, as I'm not in that category, we decided to. At about 10 days after af, I started testing with opk's. I am pretty sure it was pos on day 13 after af. We BD on days 14&15. So, would my ov day be on day 14? Or? Anyway, that pos opk was last Friday. Last baby, I got a BFP on day 10dpo, so I can test next Tues or wed. Anyone else due to test around then?
