What are your views on co-sleeping? Is it a big no no for you? Are you happy to share your bed with your lo? Is it good for them, or bad?

there is so much advice/opinions out there its hard to know whats best, ie co-sleeping increases the risk of cot death, but then other info says in a certain country(china?) co sleeping is the norm and the cot death rates are a very low?
personally i think a baby's natural instinct is to be close to its mother and maybe good for them in the early days...oliver used to slppe on my chest as it was the only way he would sleep(for a couple of weeks)

leo co-slept with me for ages, it was easier for bf too, i would have a blanket instead of a duvet. when oliver was born we got an infomation sheet on co sleeping safely too from the hospital

i think as long as you havent been drinking, taking drugs, overtired ect then its natural x

It depends on the child too! Aron slept better on his own, but Jake liked to sleep in with me! Not all the time though as I think it makes it more difficult for them to get used to being in their own beds! Jake either slept on my chest with a blanket over us or next to me on top of my quilt and under a blanket of his own! If that makes sense! It was also definatly easier for breast feeding too!

As long as your not drunk or drugged etc then I think you should be led by your LO to a certain extent!

We were not in a position where we could co-sleep with Aimee, due to her op, etc. so it wasnt something I considered.

But, this time around I probably wouldnt do it, mainly because Aimee LOVES her own space in bed and has always been a great sleeper and happy to go to bed on her own too.

She did sleep with me for 2 nights last week though as she was poorly and had a super high temp and I wanted to keep an eye on her. She did happily go back to her own room after that though.

I am all for co-sleeping. I was a breast feeder and without co-sleeping I would have collapsed with exhaustion. I purely did it when BF, Oliver had a moses basket that he just hated with a passion, so for the first few weeks/months of his life we co-slept. We got a bedside cot (with an open side) in the end.

I know they say there is a risk of suffocating the baby etc, but for me, when sleeping with the LO in the bed, I always slept with my arm out which prevented me from rolling and always woke in the exact same position that I fell asleep in. As for OH he always slept on the very edge of the bed.

I have had no trouble getting Oliver into his cot full time and has always been a brilliant sleeper.

My SIL and bro co-slept with there little one but that went slightly wrong as the did it for a few years in the end my bro was kicked out of the marital bed, and it did cause problems when trying to get their LO into a bed/room of her own

Well for me, i was terrified to have Tayla in our bed as a newborn. Also oh just wasnt aware she was there when he was asleep so it was a no no for us. I was quite strict with Tayla regarding her sleeping, i wouldnt get her out of bed before 7am and used CC to get her to sleep on her own when she had stages of fighting her sleep.
Now though shes bigger if she does wake in the night or early in the morn i bring her into our bed and i LOVE it she also sleep on the duvet not under (she hates it on her)
Zee ive seen those cots that go onto your bed, i think i might get one next time as they look fab for BFing!

zee i was the same when co sleeping with leo, i always woke in the same position and always abour 2 mins befor he woke i also agree with it depending on the child, as i say oliver slept on my chest a few times but when he got a little older he would sleep better in his own cot, he was just too nosey and would climb all over me...i sometimes feel like i missed out though and miss the cuddles

I never had to share a bed, if it came to needing to I would have got a safe sleeper cot thing for next to the bed - I would never had had her in our bed...I know that Dan can roll onto me and its blimin hard to push him off!

I made a definite decision not to attempt co-sleeping. I wouldn't have slept for the fear of rolling onto or suffocating her. And as for Dave...I actually have to kick him to wake him. TBH the thought terrifies me as when you are asleep you're not in conscious control of your body and would only take 1 move and you could damage your child, or worse (oh god I feel sick just thinking of it).

I BF exclusively and had to sit in a chair in the bedroom whilst I fed, I was scared of suffocating her as my chest is rather large. I'm not sure how I would have managed to feed her whilst lying down either.

In the early days I was utterly exhausted and would panic about falling asleep whilst feeding and I think thoses worries stayed with me throughout.

I have done co sleeping frm early on just because it was the only way of myself getting some sleep. Callum had bad 2 first weeks so thats hw it started but i must say if we have another then i would try get them to settle in cot then co sleeping xx

i love co sleeping i used to do it a lot in the beginning but iv got a wedge and i sleep in the middle and him to the side... daddy has no chance rolling over me on to baby

last night i have to admit, ben slept in my bed from 5ish. he woke with a stonker and was just to cute to put back to bed. i had to snuggle him.

i also have a habit of waking just b4 baby and i never seem to move from the 1 position iv done it with all of my kids and to date, iv never harmed them touch wood i never do!!!

Alfie doesnt sleep with us during the night but come 7.30/8ish when he wakes up i bring him in our bed for half an hour or summat. most of the time he falls fast asleep again but sometimes he just likes cuddles. gav isnt keen with him being in our room tho cos he moves around so much when he sleeps hes scared in case he squashes him. i think a mother always has that instinct tho - its differnet for dads.
