TBH Almost all of Amelia's "bad attitude or behaviour" is due to Peppa Pig. I didn't let her watch it, Dave did and she blinking loved it so I decided just to go with it and make sure that she didn't get away with copying the worse bits!

I dont think its that bad tbh! I kinda agree with this reply from article

"I think anything that encourages children to jump in muddy puddles is A. Good. Thing! Peppa Pig answers back? I hadn't noticed that. George eats salad after finding out how it is grown. Peppa learns to try and try again when she's trying to learn to ride a bike. Is it a slow news day for the Daily Mail or something?"

Caitlin jumps up and down in our living room shouting about jumping in muddy puddles, its rather sweet actually! Smile

She does announce things are disgusting at the dinner table (she loves all fruit and most veg thankfully)and asks for lollys/biscuits/cake - but dont all toddlers?

The only thing someone commented on recently was Caitlins posh English twang she puts on some words, they said they had a neice who did that too and they blamed peppa pig - not that talking correctly is a bad thing mind!

Peppa annoys the heck outta me at times but I dont think she causes bad behaviour. Try watching garfield - we watched it once and I couldnt believe it when he called someone a 'weaner head'! Shocked

i love peppa pig, i think it teaches interesting lessons in a normal, down to earth way - anyone whos child is seriously affected negatively by watching something which is aimed at their age group...well, they are letting their child watch too much tv.

i have a serious problem on the other hand with in the night garden........who on earth encourages their child to go out in the night time into a garden to play with weird creatures and strangers and to just wander into their homes...........???! Shocked

What a joke, tbh i dont really like Peppa pig (no pat reason) but Hannah has started getting into it and ill let her watch it ocassionally, she had a dvd for xmas so normally watches that. I am more worried about things they hear on radio, like that stupid Lily Allen (well i think thats who it is) who goes on about being horny or something in the song! In the middle of the day!!! At least Peppa is doing normal everyday things that my children will do without any encouragement, but explaining words like horny to my children is not something i would want to do. Opps mini rant and maybe im being ott ??

what annoys me about peppa pig is that whenever they do something bad or naughty mummy and daddy pig are all calm and reasonable about it.

e.g. mummy pig is in the office working away. peppa and george come in and jump all over her. peppa deletes all her work and george puts on that happy mrs chicken game and crashes the computer. mummy pig laughs away sends them on their merry way and starts working again.

peppa pig rubs mud all over the car when daddy is in the middle of cleaning it. laugh laugh roll around the floor laughing some more.

Doh

I kinda think they just cartoons but? Kids can still watch them and laugh & we can teach them how to behave/have manners outside that? Ok punching is maybe OTT.

How exciting/interesting would cartoons be if they were all mini life lessons? Surely a little bit of mischief is ok? Kids are eventually going to go to nursery/school, be out in the park/toddler activities and see naughty stuff like pushing, cheekiness, teasing etc anyway.

Agree with the music thing though. I had pink CD on in car last week and was singing along very loudly (and badly!) until I realised I was about to shout F*ck in front of Caitlin. Oh and dont get me started on Rihanna's music video for Found love in a lonely place. I think its disturbing on so many levels and glorifies domestic violence, drug taking, dressing like a cheap tart, shoplifting, gambling....

Btw how old are we all getting??? If my mum had said any of that to me when I was 14 Id have thought she was a clueless old fart! Laughing

LOL I think its bad parenting (dont throw stones lol)

Izzy watches LOADS of Peppa compared to other things cos she has 2 DVDs of peppa so asks to watch it quite a lot ... yes she LOVES to jump in muddy puddles and given half a chance would answer back...but seriously you just do your job as a parent and teach them how to behave,.

Izzy is VERY polite and VERY well behaved and if I thought any TV was influencing her behaviour in a bad way Id soon put a stop to it!

Edited to add - I mean its bad parenting to blame the TV Laughing NOT that you necessarily have a child that answers back or jumps in puddles!

I agree - Imogen wanted to jump in muddy puddles the other day but restrained herself because she didn't have her boots on (bless). She bit someone at nursery last week - that wasn't from Peppa Pig, that was just frustration. She always says please and thank you - more often then Peppa remembers to! Imogen loves the show and watches it more than I can bear sometimes, but often once I give in and put it on, she just has it on as background to other play, like I've got something on about he Hadron Collider now.

Now Winnie the Pooh on the other hand.... don't get me started on those terrible displays of bullying (Rabbit's anti-bounce campaign), peer pressure (Rabbit being made to allow tigger to bounce after all), rudeness (eeyore offering piglet's house away to Owl), taking credit where it isn't due (Pooh's hero party even though he didn't really save piglet from the flood) I could go on and on and on and on......

I think kids do most of that anyway without watching peppa pig as in jumping in puddles, demanding chocolate lol

This made me LOL! The photo developer at my Boots store (think Robin williams from one hour photo) always talks random rubbish when I go into collect photo's. Last time he started talking about how Winnie the pooh was found to be the most violent cartoon, apparently someone had done a PHd in it. How true that is I dont know!

Poor Imogen gets a running commentary these day (in between singing along with the songs) - "if Tigger had just said sorry then none of this would have happend.... You know what sorry means don't you Imogen?"

It is very good though the Heffalumps and Woozles song is pretty trippy!

lol i did wonder as I DO have one that answers back! not cos of tv though just cos shes a hot tempered mouthy lil toad. actually we do discuss TV as we watch it and why something is or isnt naughty so id hope if i saw something like that on peppa we would discuss it the same way. not that i let her atch peppa as it drives me bonkers. as for the toy story punch up do you know C has seen all 3 toy stories and she doesnt seem to have even registered they hit each other. shes usually more concerned if one of them seems sad about something
