Dying hair for 1st time _
PostSubject: Dying hair for 1st time   Dying hair for 1st time EmptySun Jan 15, 2012 7:38 am

I've found yet another grey hair so I think it may be time for me to consider dying my hair. I've had highlights in my late teens and home died twice the year before falling pg so I'm a complete novice.

I think I'll go a couple of shades darker/richer as I'm darkish mousey brown. Good idea?

If anyone could recommend brands and types of home colour, maybe even colours, and any hints or tips I'd be so grateful! xxx

Make sure you put Vaseline along your hair line and on your ears, so you don't end up with a dyed forehead or ears! It can be a biatch to get off!
Not sure on colours as my hair is that dark naturally I use black!
My grey hairs are something else at the moment but I can't have my hair dyed because of the illergic reaction I had to my eyes from make up! Sad I could really do with a good colouring!

Lisa, I'd suggest something temporary to start with if it's only to cover the odd grey! They don't damage your hair at all and actually give it a nice shine.

There are loads of permanent colours on the shelves at Asda if that's the road you want to take. They're all much the same and pretty easy to use. I did this for years and it was fine. Smile

I would really recommend the ones that foam up so thAt you can rub them in like a shampoo as it gets a much more even result. I personally prefer the John freida foam one, I have used the medium choc brown which is nice but the choc ones do have a reddish tinge x

I like this one too, its really easy and doesn't drip - Ive used the choc ones, although my hair is very odd and just goes dark brown regardless of what shade I use (but thats just my dumb hair!)

You need somethin with a good base colour like choclate browns as you need somethin to cover the gray, with gray hair it's lost it's pigmant so it needs the bad to cover it evenly other wise if you done a red or bleach it would go much much lighter that
N you want,
I have never used home dying kit but if you like eBay can give you idea of colours to get from here what they use in salons
