Hi girls,

Anyone got any wonderful tips for keeping my 4 and 2 year old happy on a long haul flight??

We have trunki's, colouring books, books, soft toys, blankies, couple of games and headphones for the inflight Cbeebies channel and films. Oh and Calpol in reserve!

What else can i do?

Hun there is next to nothing more you could do apart from make sure you have treats for them and drinks etc.
When we went to Mexico there was a family with 4 young children and I can honestly say they did not bother me at all! Yes of course they cried a little and wanted to walk about etc but the are children! I spoke to the mum at the end and said how well behaved they were and she was about pulling her hair out with stress. Just do the best you can and ignore people around you! If you get stressed chances are the kids will play on it.

I bet you can't wait to get there and see your family now!! Smile

Thanks girls! Oh yes stickers, good plan, hadn't added those to the kit. May buy a few little bits and wrap them up too. I think that is the main thing to focus on them and try and block out other people... x x x

Where are you going??

We've done two long haul flights with our son when he was 8mths and then 2 and a half. Flew to New Zealand, from leaving our door to getting to my parents door, it was 37 hours.

We took pretty much the same things as you but in all honesty, the headphones while watching TV was the winner over everything else. We actually took too much and then it just became more of a nuisance trying to juggle all the bags and working out where everything was.

Have a fab holiday.

Oh and definitely block out negative behaviour from people though I generally think most people have been in our shoes, maybe not flying long distances with children but I think if anything, people are more sympathetic. I know they were with me, when we flew to NZ when our son was 8mths.

We are going to Oz Smile

Pen i must be a thicko but no idea how i would take a DVD player on the plane. They do have inflight movies though, so that should keep Immy amused, as she would quite happily sit and watch films all day at home.

Holiday in Oz. Fab.

Yeah definitely something like a portable DVD or laptop will really come in handy. From my experience of our last trip (a few months ago), kids size headphones are a must.

If our son had been a couple years older (he just over 2 and a half), I seriously would have considered buying a iPad and downloaded a few movies plus some games.

That will be for the next trip back to New Zealand...

Have a wonderful holiday.
