Anybody watch this documentary last night on bbc2? What effect did it have on you and did anything surprise you about how the system works? It really affected me because I know there are 1000's of families like that all over the country and some of them slip through the net. I'm not aiming on becoming a social worker yet, don't know if I could take on the responsibilities yet. I'm hoping that after I get my diploma, I can become a family support worker /social worker assistant. Just want to reach out and help these families. Breaks my heart that some parents just don't know how to "play" with their children because they were probably never played with when they were children

I didn't see it but sounds sad

I've watched it on I player tonight and weirdly predicted the social workers moves and the families, except the mom last decision, that to me was remarkable, brave and unusual.

Interesting, but didn't show the paperwork or processes the social worker would ave needed to go through to do what she did

I was in tears for that poor boy, that house was filthy! I am never going to give myself a hard time about housework again after seeing that! Absolutely disgusting. How that social worker didn't just slap the dad upside the head was beyond me, how could the parents not even give him a bed?? A toothbrush??

And, I don't mean to be harsh, but wasn't that dad a bit..not all there? Can't think of a nicer way to put it..

Glad in a way about the mum's decision at the end, but you could see she loved that baby so much, must have taken so much to do that. When it said she wouldn't be able to contact them again until they were adults, I couldn't imagine having to do that with Milo and Noah, I was just a big sobbing mess. Especially at the end when they said the siblings were separated and the little boy didn't have an adoptive family yet I hope he finds a lovely family and both the kids have a really happy life.
