that because i am gna need a couple of weeks off for my op that my company i just started with wont renew my contract (on probationary period)
It only just occured to me this is possible and its really stressed me out!

They shouldn't really hold this against you as that wouldn't be fair.

Did you make them aware that you had a back problem and there was a possibility you were going to need an operation?

i didnt know when i started, i put that i had a back injury, but i had no idea that it was a slipped disc and would poss need an op when i started this job in october.
cant get hold of the boss at all so feeling really poop!

At least you were honest about your back problem and they still took you on knowing this.

Try not to worry too much about it at the moment...you have a pre-op today and then your op on wednesday and they are a worry in themselves.

Good luck today and hope all goes well, don't forget to ask what procedure you are having as recovery times differ and then at least you can give your boss an estimate on how long you are likely to be off.

show them the letter , you only got it yesterday ? will be dated a couple days before ?

hay! im taking the letter in tonight so they can photocopy it, its dated the 7/2/12 so they will know i rang them the day i found out.
Having the procedure where they are just shaving some of it off so it doesn't touch the nerve? So thats way better then having it removed like i was told =o|
They said i need 6-12 weeks off work, i am trying my best but at the moment its looking like i may be able to have 3 weeks off without dire consequences and 4 if i live on credit card for a month =o|
