with myself really.. I was determined not to give Finlay a dummy as Tyler still has his and I can't see him giving it up anytime soon... well we managed almost 4 months without it but since Finlay stopped his night feeds about a month ago he is still waking in the night, more and more. Only wanting a cuddle but quite annoying.

OH said oh lets try a dummy, so we did and he could then settle himself to sleep for his naps and it was quicker to pop in a dummy than to get him out of bed cuddle him back to sleep and re tuck him in. But now Im really regretting it, if he drops his dummy he's whining every 5 minutes until we can get him into a deep sleep I feel like we've made it worse - certainly not better and it's just pissed me off that I listened to OH .

Is there a way you could wean it back off him, it's I lt been a little while he will soon forget.
Possibly give him a dream feed? Or even one of those little teddy Conforter thing?

I'm not very good on the advise front as I didn't give dummy's to the boys, they we've wanted it if I tried.

Both mine had dummies and rich was 2/3 when he topped having his, he only had it or bed from about 2 but took a little while then to stop it.

You can either wean him off now, Lucas his for sleeping and if he's teething I've had a few nights when he woke up, but he now puts it in himself.

He's also got a seahorse that plays soft music and gives a light this has helped soothe him off to sleep.

It's a case of trying different things till you find something that works

Sorry not much help am I

I wouldn't worry Lewis and Hayden just dumped theres at 8 months.. Owen was nearly 3 and he still heavily relied on his.. I went to the dentist and he had a dummy arch in his teeth and that was it.. No more dummy.. His teeth grew down within 6 months...

My view is you don't see many 4-5 year olds walking about.. so whilst his little let him have it. Once he understands a bit more take it away, so like with Tyler you can reward him sticker charts, special toy etc..

Im just annoyed that it hasn't seemed to have made much difference lol I thought well I don't mind him having one if he sleeps better but noooo if anything it's worse! I suppose at least he settles himself off in the day t imne now though. stupid things. He actually was a bit better last night... I'm going to stick with it and see how it goes... we're on holiday in 3 weeks and was hoping he'd be sleeping through by then but not looking likely now Sad
