well i've just been looking online for cheap wedding venues etc and came across this one at the holiday inn near by.. has any1 been to a wedding here (not nessiseraly the lancaster one) and how was it? the lancaster 1 backs on to the river lune so is perfect for photos etc.

its only £1000 for everything they list and looks a bargin considering we have a tight budget and only want around 20 adults and 7 kids at the actual day do. x x

That looks quite good. I haven't been to a Holiday Inn wedding but I know hotels are pretty good at doing events these days and I'm sure they know exactly how to make your day feel special.

I expect they will have lots of extra things they can add on to bump that price up though so be careful - see it says "click here for a quote". It doesn't include things like a DJ or other entertainment in the evening for example, and you will have to add your own floral decorations, anything you want on the tables - favours and so on.

I like the idea of a sandwich lunch then a hot dinner, which is the other way around to what usually happens (nothing wrong with that, but beware your evening-only guests might just be expecting sarnies and could have had a big lunch already).

Also worth thinking about is whether yours would be the only wedding that day (and if you're bothered about that). I found the idea of bumping into another bride a bit strange, but loads of brides couldn't care less or in fact think it's a nice thing.

And it's all very good having somewhere gorgeous to have your photos done by the river, but is there anywhere nice inside if it's not good weather? Where will your guests loiter between lunch and evening do?

Definitely worth considering but make sure you look at a few different venues before you decide which you want to go with. We had about 5 lined up but stopped at no.3 because we knew that was the one we wanted.

I'll shut up now because I'm on the verge of a brain-dump and I'm sure you've got it all in hand already!
xx Em

well my dads a dj so a disco would be free Smile and he gave my sisters £1000 each towards there weddings so that would pay for all that for me and id have to concentrate on all the other things u listed!

im not botherd about a big expensive dress..i quite like the simple ones..! nor is ben into fancy expensive suits (infact he hates them and wouldnt surprise me if he turned up in shorts and tshirt haha.
i'd try to do the favours and flowers myself (with help of family and friends)..
i have someone who can make a cake for cheap..

obviously id have to have a look around the venue itself 1st as i dont really know what its like..im just thinking of the money atm. i was even just looking at the local registry office and then a pub nearby for a meal afterwards so may still go back to that idea! and then have a big night do somewhere seperate. x x

hey zee..ye well we've been engaged for 2 years now but whenever i brough up actualy getting married ben just sort of brushed it off and we never ever made plans and he always used to be really negative about it and say he didnt like big events etc. so basically i just dropped it and havent mentioned it in like a year and just though well when hes ready he'l let me know.!

anyway all of a sudden hes like a different person! he keeps huggin and kissing me all the time, texts me soon as he goes to work saying he misses me already and then on monday he left me a note on the fridge door sayin "i love you so much lucy..ps we should get married!" i was like whattt!! and ever since then hes not stopped talking about it saying how he cant wait for me to be his wife and all of a sudden he feels like hes ready to commit properly and doesn't want anyone else blah blah (god knows why as he should have felt it already) but i think a part of him as finally grown up!! i couldn't be more happy and we've picked a couple of dates we like in may next year! we would do it before baba got here if poss but i dont have the documents u need etc.

so ye we're actualy heading out to look at a venue right now Smile eeekkk so happy right now!! x x
