Can you have funny shaped blood cells?? My consultant made me have more bloods done cause apparently my cells are funny shaped and he just wants to check everything is ok! Well at least thats what I think he said!! I am majorly confuddled!!

i think you can have, but im not a doctor!! lol! do you know if its your red blood cells? i know you can have abornally shaped ones called poiklocyte or Poikilocytosis, i dont know much about it though as we only swept over it in my Anatomy/physiology/pathology at college.

maybe give the doc a call and ask??

Ta chick! Glad I am not losing my marbles! Didn't want to google just in case! Yes think it is my red cells! Have tried to get hold of my mate who is a phelbotomist but she has gone awol today! OH has tried to decipher the consultants handwriting but no luck! Will ring my midwife tomorrow to ask her!

I've heard of this aren't normal red blood cells suppose to be a circle shape but funny ones in certain conditions are kidney shaped? (might be the other way around) I think that's what they meant xxx
