Everest can be quite expensive. We had them to quote on replacing 3 big windows a door and to have our porch roof re-tiled - and they quoted us £8000. patio doors/ french doors 548646
Plus they wanted a decision there and then to 'receive a discount.'

I would try a local firm rather than a national one.

We have had all of our double glazing replaced in the last year (apart from the patio doors as they were fine) and we got it much cheaper than getting it from a national firm.

I was going to say the same hun, we've had new windows 3 times (3 different houses) and we used a local firm every time because they were by far the cheapest. x

Do you guys have something like a Home Depot over there? Would be cheaper to buy it through a home improvement store and hire something to put them in. You would need to measure accurately for the jambs. Outside french doors run here about 1000-1200. xxx

have they been damaged by you em? sorry to ask i just dont get why you would have to replace council acc windows. i would be telling them to bog off, or enquiring if they can do the work and you pay them for it, that would work out cheaper too probably xx

hi kelly thanks for link xxx
jen yes we do i can do that just would need a fitter x

and jo .. i exchanged into the house as it was my nans and grandads house my nan paased away a few years ago and my grandad day after amelie was born.. when they passed they left my uncle in the house by himself he is epileptic and cerable paulsy and learning difficulties.. so its a 3 /4 bed house and he was aloud to stay in it with a carer or me move in with him .. or he was given the choice to try independant living ina falt of his own,,,.. he chose to move on..... soo.. i hated the thought of the house goign to someone else and its my family home and i am my uncle carer next of kin.. so asked if i could have the house and do an exchange with my uncle and brother we both had 2 bed flats me on atop floor and my brother a ground floor opposit the house.. ..so my uncle wne to the ground floor 2 bed my brother to mine and me to the house.. the councils conditions where that i took the house as i see it damage and all..and anything that was changed and put in by my grandparents i would be reliable to replace myself..

so here i am a needing to replace the patio doors and i have already replace a whole bathroom suite.. out my own pocket.. but i got my house so i dont care

and its aspecial house xx

Ah i see, Thats not bad, i still think they got out of that one easily leaving you to pay tho. they arent bllody daft are they!

Still could be worth finding out if they would do the work and you pay them, i know that they have done that around where my mum lives.

sometimes they do it on the side ala Jens suggestion, i know a good lad too but just way too far away i am afraid.

how did you get on with everest???

lol everst quoted me 2400 pounds i just laughed and saud thanks and goodbye Shocked

what annoys me the most about it all is.. if i didnt get the house the council would of put it back to council standered anyway thate mean either replacing the doors or putting a window back in ?? so they could at least help.. but they wont Sad

my mums freind come round about hourish ago and said he can do it for wel under a grand and he is a window fitter by trade x
