Well after planning to go to the Warrington meet for weeks and being nervous but excited, it comes to the day and I frigging miss it!!!

I got all packed up ready last night - even went to next and bought the kids a new outfit each. Got up this morning first thing and managed to get both kids changed and dressed to take OH to work so I could have the car. Got back got both fed and car packed up. Thomas was helping me with my bag - carrying it to the car - and i strapped him in his seat and let him hold it while i got hannah in. So I shut the door on Hannah walked round the car to get my bag off Thomas and in that space of time he managed to get the keys out of my bag and lock himself and Hannah in the car then he dropped the keys down the side of his chair so he couldnt even reach them to unlock it

Thankfully my phone wasnt in my bag so after a bit of a spaz out I phoned OH at work and he wouldnt answer his phone so after trying him 4 times I rang his boss and told him to get him RIGHT NOW!!! . He was as much use as a chocolate fireguard so I rang the hire company (it's a hire car coz ours is in the garage yet again) and asked if they had a spare? Yes they do have a spare - great! NOT - apparently they keep them all in a central office in London!!! so they sent out the AA.

The AA man rang me and said I was a priority so He would be with us asap. He got here within 20 minutes so I thought great - I'll still make the meet! But nope - stupid friggin brand new posh car - can't get in! Bless the poor bloke he tried everything. He even managed to get the button on the door up but Thomas had apparently dead locked the car by pressing the button twice so still couldn't get in. He tried and tried and rang all sorts of different people and was adamant that breaking a window was the very last resort coz he was terrified of hurting one of the kids. He eventually had to ring a mate of his own who is a locksmith and wait for him to bring all his equipment round and cut a new key.

So anyway - after all the messing about and trying everything humanly possible to get that stupid car open we eventually got in with a new key after 3 HOURS!!!!!!

I'm just very lucky to have two very laid back babies coz other than Hannah shouting for her bottle at the end they were absolutely fine. Poor Thomas was trying everything to help, he was trying to reach the keys, trying to pull the handles when the man told him, he tried to guide the wire through to grab the keys, he even tried really hard to get his car seat button open to pass us the keys bless him.

So there ya go - rather than have a lovely morning with all the northwest ladies and babies - I spent 3 hours talking to my babies through a car window in the freezing cold front street - I'm such a knob!

So sorry to all the ladies for not turning up - I tried to message a couple of you on fb but guessed you wouldnt be able to pick it up before the meet at that point. I really hope you all had a fab time and do it again so i can hopefully join you next time.

Tbh Jo, after the initial I was ok. I must come over as a right uncaring biatch coz the AA man kept telling me he was suprised how calm I was. I'm not the hysterical type tbh, it would only have upset the kids if I had paniced so I kept very calm.

We wondered where you'd got to!!! Debs you poor thing! Thank god your gorgeous babies are so chilled. I'm terrified of this happening as I've seen it happen twice at the nursery. Just glad you're all ok! xxx

I am sooooo proud of how well they both coped with it. They were brilliant - I still can't believe how good they were. Only ten minutes earlier, if you had asked me, I would have gladdly locked them both in the car for 3 hours . They were a nightmare to get ready and I was so proud of myself getting out the house on time and everything - then that happened I'm destined never to leave this house and make new friends

Em - I did really just want to smash a window and get my babies out - especially when Hannah was crying for her bottle but it's weird how you go into auto pilot when your kids are at risk - I wouldn't have forgiven myself if one had got glass in their eye or something, I would much rather they cry for a bit and be safe than get them out but be hurt as I'm sure every mum would.

worst nightmare. I make sure my keys are in my pocket when im strapping hannah in. and I would have been the type to freak but probably only because hannah would too
