Stories from the farm _
PostSubject: Stories from the farm   Stories from the farm EmptySun Sep 26, 2010 6:10 am

Hey all

Well its been an interesting week. Got there in 2 1/2 hours on the sat and C slept all the way which was ace. Took her out to meet all the animals and she loved it. She met piggies, chickens, a cockerel we named Lester, ducks and a peacock called peanut the 1st evening. She also went for a play in the soft play though she found it a bit overwhelming and ended up sat in the ball pit while we rolled balls down the slide to her. Once she went to bed OH and I left the grandparents listening to the monitor and went to play pool and ping pong - ping pong got a bit viscous and we both retired back to the cottage a bit out of puff.

On the sunday we had a potter around buckfast abbey and got some of their truly excellent caramel fudge - i still have a bit left for pudding tonight. We went briefly to Trago Mills but it was quite busy so we left fairly quickly as we are not really shopping type people and went to Paignton for chips on the pier and a wander through the prom. Sunday we also took C swimming for the 1st time, after waterbabies when she was younger did nothing but develop a huge fear of water in her i was really apprehensive but she had the pool all to herself with us and we put her in a swim seat and just let her splash about and she really enjoyed it.

Monday we stayed on the farm all day and went for a long walk along the river, we took C to see the alpacas, sheep, donkeys and ponies. We went and fed the chickens and ducks every day and Peanut used to come to the cottage every morning for his bread. She got very attatched to the 'teatock' and also developed a quite passable imitation of a cockerel and everytime we were in the cottage of an afternoon demanded to be up on the window sills to see the 'amimals' esp 'Peanuh'. After the river walk she went swimming again and this time we managed to get her out of the swim seat and splashing around in the pool in her swim vest and arm bands and now she was at the point she was crying to stay IN the pool. Monday was also our wedding anniversary and neil's parents paid for us to have a meal in the 11th century pub down the road, I had pheasant breast with buttery mash and veg and neil had venison and stilton pie with sautee potatoes and veg though we both tried a good amount of each others. Treacle tart for pudding and the food was ace.

Tuesday we went to the butterfly garden and otter sanctuary, C liked the butterflies and the ornamental koi but wasnt so taken by the otters. Another afternoon of swimming, by now we had her on her tummy kicking like a wee demon.

Weds we went to teignmouth beach and went for a walk on the beach. Another phobia conquered, now she can walk she doesnt mind sand though she got most upset at her white trainers getting dirty. We also took a boat trip to shaldon and C added another word 'bo-ut' though for reasons unknown to us she pronounces it with a geordie accent. Gave swimming a miss today as her nose was streaming like a tap but took her for a good walk to see the amimals.

Thursday we had a family day just C neil and I which was quite a relief as id now been cooped up with the inlaws for 5 days and had resorted to texting mara for moral support as they were doing my head in. Nothing hugely bad just irritating the life out of me. MIL had a song she would sing to C which was fine until she had sung it 5 times in a 20 minute car journey and i was ready to sew her mouth shut, stuff like that. So thurs came as a huge relief. We took C to visit MY nan in plymouth for an hour and my nan adored her and gave her £20 as we left. We thought about getting something practical but decided we rarely get to just spend money on toys for C for no reason and took her to toys r us instead. They had a fab offer on where if you spent 40 pound on leapfrog stuff you got a leapfrog computer worth another 40 free. So we spent nans money on a junior leap pad reader and also bought her guitar we were getting her for crimbo anyway and got the computer to put away for her birthday Smile we then took her for pizza hut for lunch and Daddy bought her a new dressing gown as she was wearing her dinosaur one like a kimono. So she got a lovely penguin gown.

Friday was our last day out and we took C from Paignton to Goodrington Sands on a steam train, only a 5 min journey but C was very excited about going on 'Puffer Pete'. We went on the beach at goodrington then caught the train back and took her for lunch in goodrington where the restaurant manager seemed to take a great dislike to us. She whinged where we put our buggy was dangerous so we happily moved and she followed is thew whole way whining about how dangerous we had been. Then C spilt my curry sauce and I went and asked for some serviettes to mop up and she barked at me 'did you spill it or the baby!'. I was a bit scared what she would do to my daughter by this point (!) so i took the rap lol. Weirdo. The afternoon was spent swimming and walking round feeding all the amimals.

I also have to admit to breaking every pregnancy rule in the book this week, ive had blue cheese, pate and 2 glasses of wine! But the food was great, the farm was ace, C picked up like 15 new words this week, in addition to amimals, teatock, chick chick and boat we got lorry, Yesh (yes), good, more, bup bee (cup o tea) and 'wimmin (swimming) plus a couple of others i cant bring to mind at the mo. Got some fab pictures and video and even the inlaws werent too bad just irritating. Slept from 9pm to 7am every night though am still ridiculously tired!

Uh congrats if you havent fallen aslepp lol

Wow you had a busy but enjoyable week! Caelyn is so amazing at talking, must have her mummys literacy gene Stories from the farm Icon_wink Pmsl about the singing MIL, totally get where you are coming from but with me its the phrase - 'awk darling' 2 million times an hr or 'look' everytime Caitlin blinks Stories from the farm Icon_rolleyes

Glad she over her fear of water, we took Caitlin to the fun pool last week and she had a blast, shooting down the slides and not caring if her face went under for a sec or 2. Iv only taken her to baby swim session 3-4 times months ago so am going to try going more regularly now.

Wouldnt worry about the wine, I had the odd glass when PG and I also had a few runny eggs... theres some things that are hard to resist! Everything in moderation! x

Her talking amazes us. She told her daddy Ub Oo today and reduced him to tears. LisaG when she met her at the meet said she couldnt believe how cute her Fwower (flower) was but i have to say Amimal beats it into a cocked hat PMSL, we also both quite like Yesh as its a passable sean connery style Very Happy. Only thing is she learns so many words at once it takes a while to get her pronunciation to improve cos shes too busy learning new ones to work on her existing ones lol. Mind after a week of constant repition she finally converted teatock to peatock lol. I guess shes just a gobby rat like me lol

Yes thats the one. We took her last year when she was 5 months old and she tried to eat the sensory garden lol. This year we were a little worried about the stunt toddler in a serene place but she fell asleep in her buggy phew. We only had a brief visit cos we had a good visit last year but we had to go get some fudge it was calling. Neil gave C some of his that afternoon, she ran around the living room like a nutter for about an hour

Sounds like you all had a wicked time! Sorry about that witch in the restaurant. I'd have left her to clean up the spillage herself, miserable cow!

Well done to C learning all those new words and swimming, what a little star x
