anyone know what they could be? oliver has them all over his belly! he has so other symptoms, but he has had a cough and cold the past week(possibly due to teething) he seems fine in himself but they dont dissapear under a glass tumbler i showed my mum(she is a nurse, although a mental health nurse so she doesnt know a great deal) anyway she said not to worry too much as he has no other symptoms and take him to the gp in the morning if they havent gone. but i am a little concerned they arent dissapearing under a glass any ideas??? xx

u know, i dunno if its the same but iv got them on my belly, legs and arms and now my neck but iv been clawing at my skin the last 3 hours. never realised ferg washed my clothes in the wrong powder!!!

could it be a wee reaction, food/heat....

as for not dissaperaring, id freak out, but dont u do that!! call ur nhs24 and speak to them mibi. see what they say ??

Because you mentioned the cold I'm more inclined to think its viral as it does sound like what Oliver had once. But the fact the rash doesn't fade is odd.

I'd ring NHS direct and see what they suggest.

could it be Roseola? hav e alook at it online and see if the pics are the same kind of rash.

yeah he seems absolutley fine besides the cold, its just the rash not going under the glass whats worrying me, he has always had a few dotted about like them as leo has too but he has about 100+, only teeny. he has had them for a couple of hoursw now and hasnt got anyworse and he settled for bed fine, i have been checking him and disturbing him too just to make sure...i will give nhs direct a call

unique- i dont know about roseola, but isnt that a hight temp too?? his temp isnt up today so dont think it could be that but i will check thanx x

i think Roseola comes after them being ill, i had it a couple of years ago (apparently its unusual in adults as most people have it before they turn 2) and im sur ethe doc said you feel under the weather before the rash appears.

Prickly heat rash maybe?

its not heat rash, it looks nore like tiny burst blood vessels under the skin x

Isla gets these, and I panicked big time the first time she got them.....the hospital put a canula in for bloods etc to chek for meningitis and everything.............

BUT they were absolutely fine.....In the end I phoned the meningitis helpline to find out about 'the' rash in more detail.

They said that a meningitis rash is normally the last thing to happen, and that if it was a meningitis rash, you would noticably have a very very poorly baby......listless, raging temp, screaming, vomiting etc.

So therefore rest assured that it is not 'the rash'.....it may be a viral something like Isla's, but check with your GP if unsure. NHS direct will say to head off to a&e because it doesnt blanche under a glass.

Forgot to sat i think theyre called petetchiae (sp????) x

it is called petechiae rash and its caused my a virus which then causes a low platelets and thats why u get blood spotsunder the skin.. my son was born very sick with a virus callled cmv which cause all of this .. only harmful to unborn babies and if u never had the virus as a child and got immunity xx but with all cases of spots that dont fade i w ould still get them checked out xx just to be safe x

thanx ladies, well i went to gp this morning, she said she has never seen anything like it before but she doesnt think its anything sinister as he is otherwise well. although he does have a chest infection so is now on antibiotics, she said to monitor the rash and take him back if it gets worse

I hate it when they say they dont know what it is but its fine ..... How do they know its fine if they havent seen it and dont know what it is gggggrrrrrrrr gp's
