| well leo had a martial arts lesson on sat then another 1 today, it was 2 free trial days then i was going to sign him up. i asked how much lessons cost when i booked him in for the trial, they avoided the subject, then asked how much it cost at the trial session, i was told it would all be explained to me at the next trial session...i even googled it and couldnt find the prices. went for the second trial today..leo loved it, got the prices...wait for it...£100 deposit then £50 a month direct debit for 4 hours a month what happend to the good old days when you paid about £5 weekly for a couple of hours session???? i feel so awful but i simply cannot afford that kind of money for 4 hours...its rediculous, or am i being cheap???? i havent actually told him yet but i know he will be gutted bless him, but im going to find him something else to do(found a footy club for £3.50 a week) i am just so annoyed, i feel like they cheated me into going, if i knew the prices from the start id have never gone to the trials, feel like theyve used my sons emotions against me(ok overreacting a bit, but you get my point) xx |

| I would be so pissed off! I agree that that is far too much for 4 hours - I wish I was getting paid that! It's such a shame that they wouldn't just tell you straight out, I bet loads of parents are in the same position, feeling awful and having disappointed kids - in the longer term they will probably get a bad reputation for conning people like that. |

| no when i did it as a kid it was £2.50 for a 2.5 hr session...id send him to the same class but its 8yrs+ same as most places, my uncle does boxing lessons too so im sure that would be very cheap(or maybe free ) but thats 8+ too and im not keen on the idea of boxing tbh..even though my dad and all my uncles were boxers(very good local champions ) and my dad would love him to get into it its just too dangerous for my liking lol im sure he will love footy anyway, just dreading telling him he camt go back to martial arts x |

| OMG, thats shocking I wouldn't dare pay that. They should have been open from the start about the price. Your right though, about getting kids all excited then the parents feel compelled into paying the cost. x |

| That's ridiculous money!! My eldest did karate for a while, it was £4 a week 1 hour session and you had to buy license and uniform. He also played football for a local team that was £100 yearly fee they supplied kit, and £4 a week subs. But with training wed and sat and matches sun it took over our lives- so we quit that I've just got my eldest into scouts and trying to get middle one into Beavers they are £10 a month paid monthly, it's 2 hrs a week scouts and hour a week beavers. They do allsorts, camps hikes games he's been there 3 weeks and has earnt a badge. Uniform is around 50 quid. |

| i have not read all replies but we had this very same problem we went to the freebie trials my son was made to feel like a star then they sat me down and wrote on a peice of paper the amounts ,,, was 400 for 6 months if you paid upfront or 100 a month , and you had gradings and what not to pay on top of that try the notice boards in your local community centr if you have not already , they tend to have smaaler pay by the week same type of clubs much cheaper ! xx |

| I can't believe what they're charging. Gemz I was going to suggest having a good look round as there would be cheaper options - just read that you've found something.

| Try GKR karate! It's where my boys go and although it's not cheap the instructors are fab! To join costs £26 I think for the trial period then £26 again for full membership after the trial, then lessons are £6 for hour or £9 for a longer lesson! 2 or so hours I think! The gi costs about £20 and then gradings are £24!
Well worth looking into!
