| I suffer with IBS and I was wondering if anyone who has it can give me some advice... I know the foods that I need to avoid and as much as I can I do. I get the cramps throughout the day mildly but thats it. In the mornings when I get up though I have really bad cramps and I go to the toilet 2 maybe 3 times before I leave for work Its really soft too, doesn't hurt to go as its so loose x I tend to only have a glass of water for breakfast as for years I have been feeling really sick in the mornings and unable to eat properly x |

| I've suffered from IBS for around 15 years now, and it still gets me sometimes but generally I have it under control. I am like you though and have to go to the loo in the mornings before I can leave, although only the once.
As well as avoiding the foods you can't have, you also need to eat lots of the foods that are going to help. Lots of fibre helps, I know high fibre is perceived as making you go more, but once your body is used to it after a week or so, it really helps to regulate your bowels. I also find Buscopan helps with the cramps when they're really bad. You can get if over the counter at the pharmacy. I also have a probiotic yoghurt or drink every day as IBS can be caused by bacteria in the gut, and trying to keep your stress levels down helps, so find an outlet for your stress x |

| I have it also, mine seems to be ok at the moment since being preg again. but know it will come back. but Im a nightmare, Il go about 10 times a day on a bad day Im awful, you'd think I was skinny as a rake the amount I can go sometimes, things only have to touch my mouth and im cramping and back in the loo. I know what I can and cant eat, but somedays im fine. I try to eat alot of probiotic yoghurt which really helps, stress is the main thing for me. I did have these tablets (cant remeber the name of them) from the drs but made me go too much the other way and was in utter pain. Id rather be this way in a way than not being able to go. lol hope settles down for you x x |

| I think I have this but have never had it diagnosed, have all the symptoms of it. I know what triggers it so I stay away from those foods, but sometimes I eat something that I think is ok and it obviously isnt because I spend the rest of the day in and out the toilet. I find when I am stressed or upset it seems to trigger it as well. |

| I suffer from it too but have only had it for nearly 3 years so I'm still learning about it and what triggers it for me. Stress and upset is my main trigger. That seems to turn all food against me and the only thing to fix it is to adress the stressor. My IBS can (TMI) so both ways, it can either leave me for a week not being able to go, or keep me in the loo all day. My main problem with it though is that I get a crippling pain across the top of my stomach that nothing will relieve.
Otherwise things that set me off are dairy especially milk and cream, Brown bread of any kind, Chocolate, MSG (chinese food especially) and Dorito's.
I hope you find out what's setting you off xxx |

| I was diagnosed with this a few months back. I haven't found a specific trigger as such foodwise but find that if I have a few days of not generally eating well, or being stressed sets me off. Mine tends to be worse at night!! xx |

it's awful isn't and then sometimes it can just stop.....as if nothing happened!!! And I can go from majorily constipated to completely the opposite in the blink of an eye. Steph - there is no test as such for it (if there is I didn't have any) just symptoms and my doc diagnosed it that way. xx |
