I wonder if anyone can help, My mum and dad have seperated and youngest sister lives with my dad, Mum needs to pay maintanance for Molly but we cant find any information as to whether Savings are taken into account when they make the decision on how much?

It's based on your mom's income and a percentage is calculated from that. There should be an accountant or someone that may be able to help. The more money you make the more you have to pay..and vice versa. xxx

Thanks Jen, She doesn't earn atm she's relocating and is in the process of job hunting. She does have savings from the sale of their house so we wondered if it was included as an income.

Unfortunatly things have gotten and are likely to get rather heated between my parents. Obviously mum will pay but if its only baised on monthly income we have no idea how much she should be giving lol!

Yes..the sale of the home would be considered as income, unless she promptly puts it back into real estate. If they can both work with a court appointed mediator..will save them both headaches and heart ache to come up with a reasonable amount for child support. Try to keep the lawyers out of it..they will make things worse. xxx

LOL..NOT! Just know so many couples who have split and this was always an issue. Not sure about the laws over there, but here it's pretty standard on income and any savings accrued. I am sad that your family is going thru this, it's not easy, and I hope you and your sister are coping. xxx

if your mum is on benefits she will have to pay just £5 a week x

You can do an online calculator on csa hun, my ex-hubby and i worked it out.. he made an offer and i considered it.. you have to take into account a lot of factors, childs age, what your mum is prepared to provide (my ex provides school shoes and new trainers when required, and i throw in the odd hair cut ) how often she will visit/overnight stay at your mums.. (shared custody)
