| hi all,
i was wondering if anyone knows how much notice a school must give of inset days, because mine has given me 12 days.
i cant take the time off i'm in court and russ has booked all his holiday (his goes jan to dec) and i got no one else to have him, if he was ill its different i could perhaps ask sil, but i know she works wed, or my dad but i refuse to ask them on principle for this one. ( of course i will ask them but its not fair on them either)
i'm fuming, the school seriously dont think about parents who work, they always changing assembly dates and the xmas play they change most years and i cant get the time off most of the time.
i'm seriously thinking of taking him into school and telling them they can look after him as i got noone else.... if he was ill its different, my work would be considerate and i expect to have to do this, but this is annoying me... i dont think many of the parents work and its driving me mad.
so is it legal, i have a feeling they cant legally do this, and i will be checking with the education department on monday morning and i will be going into school and demanding they cancel their training because they idiots who think we can all jump for them....
sorry to all teachers on here but i cant believe it, the pure cheek of this is driving me insane.... |

| How odd of them. My mum works at a school and they have their inset days at the start if the school year for the whole year. I think she has 4 a year and they are normally tagged on to school hols.

| its 6 a year now in primary school but its the lateness of it, they normally give the dates beginning of the term, so i put them in my diary and arrange childcare or a day off,
i just think 12 days notice is disgusting |

| I work in a college. Ours are planned 12 months before, our students are issued with a calendar at the start of the year. I'd ring your LEA. |
