Well am home from work a little earlier than expected. Ended up a patient in my own department tonight. Got in at 730pm and was sent to resus. Dept heaving and ended up on my own in resus with 3 really sick ppl having to run from one to the next doing half a dozen things cos as usual not enough staff to spare another nurse to help me out so in the end i rang the site practitioners and one of them came to help. Been feeling a bit off all night but seems par for the course this week so carried on and figured would ring mw back again today - she didnt return my call yesterday. Didnt get 1st break til 0230, 7 hours into shift and after having a drink got up to go back and got a bit of a sharp chest pain, lasted about 5 to 10 mins then went away, carried on stocking up then suddenly felt really dizzy and shaky and felt my heart was hammering in my chest. Put the pulse ox machine on and pulse was reading 128, normal is 70-80. So went and asked boss if could sit down for 5 mins but she made me book in. They did a tracing of my heart which was what we call sinus tachy which means fast but no cardiac problems, id slowed down to about 110 by then. Did my bp and was 145/67 so up again. Senior doc on came to see me and asked a load about how id been and how pregnancy had been and about last pregnancy. She thinks it was caused by dehydration and work and tiredness but says i need to see mw asap and get into gp for full follow up cos i might need to be put on blood pressure meds to control the rising in my bp. Took home a copy of my paperwork for mw. They also took some bloods and gonna ring me if any probs with bloods and did a urine test which showed 1+ protein. So they have sent me home and gotta ring thursday am to tell em if im back in thursday night which i will know more once ive spoken to mw. Got a lift home from a mate as still feeling shaky though have eaten tonight so isnt that. Honestly, last time this one. I cant do this again! I suck at pregnancy

Youre in the right job in an ironic way. My last employer didnt give a fig and even after a doc letter only let me sit down for 5 min per hr at the fire escape like the local PG leppar! My BP at 8mths PG was 170/110. I quit work at 32 wks because I couldnt be on my feet for 10hrs a day and employer refused to give me any slack.... I wished id sued, instead I quit at end of MAT, still no P45 or P60 the gits... Dont worry too much about BP, mine went up and down too, especially if I was stressed as I imagine you get in your work environment. You prob know too that +1 isnt too major, worth keeping an eye on but it could be discharge etc. Try and get a good kip. Really hope you feel better soon. If you get sick pay maybe a week of relaxation (as much as is realistic with a toddler) is just what you need! X

Your job must be stressful at the best of times, without being pregnant too. Make sure you dont go back until you are ready! x

Hey all Well i got up after a few hours sleep and rang midwife at 940. My midwife wasnt in today and had clinic tommorrow am so they said she couldnt ring me back til tommorrow afternoon. The midwife on the phone asked what was up and explained about last night so she said i should see my gp and she would leave my mw a message. Got in to see gp at lunchtime, he checked my bp again and was 125.80 so normal and pulse 86. He signed me off til a week monday and said im to ring mw during clinic tommorrow and ask her to see me before mon and if she cant he wants to see me again mon or tues and in meantime he wants me to check my bp twice a day morning and evening. Took note into work, feel really guilty cos thursday night i was the only senior nurse on, now theres only 4 nurses and an auxiliary nurse and the nurses who are on are all newly qualified/new to a and e/just back off mat leave/crap so i think ive really dumped em in the brown stuff.

X Hey snoopy The top number is affected by stress but not the bottom, its more that my bottom number keeps rising too which is an indicator something might be up but i guess checking it during a week off might give a more accurate answer than checking it when ive been doing a passable impression of a blue bummed babboon at work all night. Not really worried about protein anyway, can be anything that sparks that including the testers eyesight! |
