| Id started Sertraline a few days ago, and was getting some pretty horrid effects (see my other post!!). I was prescribed these for anxiety/panic attacks. Anyhow, what the side effects i was getting got worse, and worse, until I felt really quite ill....panicking I phoned the emergency Dr who said there was a chance I could have 'Serotonin syndrome'..........geezzzz did I panic once I had googled that one!!!!!!!! I was told to stop the tablets immediately, and take myself in for assessment (I stupidly refused, because I had Isla and Jess in bed so OH couldnt take me), so the next day my GP came out I had a temp of 38.6, id had water diarrhoea probably about 25-30 times during the past 24hrs, id lost 6lb, and was just all disorientated.....he also suspected the syndrome, either that or salmonella etc. But he said not to panc as I was over the worst and the drug reaction now couldnt cause any more harm. I feel loads better today, still not great, but at least im not flat out on the couch now. So the actual point of this post is (lol if your still with me)......im never gonna take an SSRI antidepressant in my life again EVER! So do any of you have any experience of herbal remedies, or specific counselling, or basically ANYTHING etc that could help me! Im really gonna struggle without meds, but I have to keep trying something HELP HELP HELP Lisa x |

That is exactly what happened to me when I tried anxiety meds - effexor was what I was on...It amped up all my anxiety to a whole new level that I just couldn't even continue. I tossed them out and climbed out of the dark place by using a counselor and learning to recognize what triggers my anxiety. I know meds work for some ppl..but not all. xxx |

Horrid isnt it!! Thank god I never got to the real scary stages.....they reckon I was just heading towards toxic! The scary thing is that even in my job I really thought it was only possible in combination therapies....but its not only that! It can be changing SSri's (like me), or just starting one, or just increasing a dose! I was only on day 4 of a starting dose |

| Lisa have you tried CBT recently? Possibly with a different practitioner? I know it's not a quick fix but it can really really help. Also just things to help relax you like aromatherepy, massage, meditation, reflexology etc. I'd try anything and everything. Have you tried hypnotherepy even? Reall hope you feel better as that sone terrifying! xxxxxx |

| Hey Lisa! Ive recntly changed Gp's so am going to phone tomorrow and ask if I can continue counselling, but with their practice! The Gp also said when he came out to me that we would 'discuss moving forward' from this when I was fully recovered, and the drug was completely out of my system. He said about trying other drugs, but theres no way im too bloody scared xxx |

| I think that's a good idea. Get everything out of your system and find your base line again, then try and hit it from a different angle. If you need anything, anything at all then give me a bell. I'll pm you my mobile number. xxx |
