Well C went down for her 3rd night tonight no dummy and didnt have it in the day today so its been over 24 hours without one. Im now not inclined to give in as i figured the 1st couple of days would be the most important ones.

Now i think that we should give it tonight and tommorrow night and if all is fine on sunday when we are both off get c to either throw them in the bin herself or watch us do it and say bye bye to them then we will give her a present. But neil is of the opinion we should just never mention them again.

What do you guys think

I think never mention them again!

Only one of mine had dummies (and he wad a bloody nightmare) then one day he just didn't bother with them so after a few days I binned them.

But I can kinda see what you mean as you want jet to be aware and have closure of the dummy era!

Even though she hasn't had them for the past couple of days, have they been lying round for her to see?
My thinking is she may get upset etc if she see's them now and them getting thrown away. Am not sure tbh, you know your own LO.
Moo choose to give up his dummy at 9mths and we just bagged them up and put them in the cupboard (they are still there to this day Laughing ) but we just never mentioned them, he still comes across the odd one in his toy box etc, but he just chews and flings now Very Happy

Personally if nothings been mentioned about them from C i'd just bin them and not make a huge ish Wink

i saw the baby whisperer take a little one out and help them dig a hole and plant a dummy tree - then later the mummy (or daddy) went out in the night, dug them back up just in case and binned them...by the time the little one had gotten bored of waiting for a tree they were over the dummies - maybe it's worth a shot if it becomes an issue, but until then i would just not mention it Smile

I say get rid of them without her knowing - not that I have any experience with dummies but I know if Libby sees something she's not supposed to have she 'has' to have it but if it's hidden away she doesn't even mention it (if that made sense scratch ) x

i'm not sure because it really depends on how much she was using them, but i do agree with you, wait for a couple of days and if still nothing then decide.

but i think you will have to judge for yourself on this one

good luck

Shove them in a cupboard and forget about them forever more.
2 of my boys just threw them at 8 months, my middle one Owen was 3 had the dummy arch in his teeth and developed a lisp. From memory we just told him no more!! And put away..... That was hard going crying for it - the younger the better to remove.
A month after we took it away his lisp disappeared and within 3 months his teeth had grown down Smile

Thanks for your opinions guys i really appreciate the thoughts. Ive been thinking on it all evening as i have been reading.

I think you all make good points about seeing them might cause problems and upset her and if she sees them thrown she might get distressed and start off about them.

However i also know my c and if i just ignore it she will set off whenever the word is mentioned and wont just forget em immediately. So im not sure i want to spent the next few months spelling words out.

So i figured on a halfway house. Im going to throw the dummies away myself without her seeing em but i am going to explain to her that because she is a big girl now her dumdums are all gone bye byes (she gets bye bye and all gone) because babies have dumdums and ive got her a big girl present.

Id already gotten her something for this eventuality so im going to give her a leap frog animal guitar as her big girl present. Then at least if she does ask i can say remember the dumdums gone bye byes and you have your guitar now

Any thoughts

I bought hannah a new nursery bag and a little teddy and dressing up shoes and I gave her the bag first and asked her to put all her dodis in the bag and we hung it up on the front door handle. the dodi fairy came and took all the dodis away and left her teddy and shoes. she was well chuffed and the dodi was never mentioned again

Sounds perfect Mario,
this may possibly need backing up when new baby comes and dummies are about again.
If H sees someone elses dummy layjng about he now just picks it up and brings to me, or takes to owners mum bless him Smile
