It's Matt's 21st Dec 11th, and he wants to plan something special but I have no idea what to do. Any ideas? He has 2wks holiday left at work so we can go away, but where in the middle of December? Also what do I buy? He's building a mini so most people will get him parts for that, but i want to buy something special.

If you wanted to go away with Immie you could go to Ireland or Scotland? Just for a couple of nights?

Then you could buy him something like an engraved watch, or something to keep, and give it him while away?

Yeah we'll take Immi. I hadn't thought of Scotland or Ireland. Ireland might be nice, will the weather be awful though?
I like the sound of engraved something but he has two watches that he never wears. i bought him an engraved zippo for his 18th birthday

Dublin is a nice city (Well parts of it). You can usually get good hotel deals, the Gresham hotel is nice and in good location. Would be lots of markets etc on for Christmas and there's the Guiness factory you could go on a tour of, plus loadza shops. (Dublin is pretty expensive for beer/eating out just to warn you)

As for a present, hmmm.... I usually get Stuart things like Lost boxset, or aftershave/coat etc. Nothing original....

Just saw weather question. Weather pretty similar to North England. Yup in December it could be 3-4 degrees and snow but at the same time it could be 8 or 9 degrees and be bright. Its not that far away . But yeah bring an umbrella and some fleeces

Does Imogen have a passport btw? Needed for Ireland (sorry if that's dead obvious but it put us off a trip to Ireland this year!)

Scotland I can highly recommend, even just the borders is a gorgeous area. If you look for somewhere near to things you both like to do - walks, shopping, swimming etc. though with it being December. Lots of self-catering to choose from (cottageguide is a good one - direct with owner so no fees) OR Centre parcs is fab, but lots of pennies!

If you want some time just the two of you instead / aswell there are spa days you could do together -
