Just came back not too long ago from dropping Madisyn and her friend to dance class and there was a fella(dad) who was smoking a very lovely smelling cigar outside the building...I could of stood there inhaling it for hours. It just took me back in time to when my grandpa would smoke his cigars and a flood of happy memories came rushing back. What scents do you happen upon that make you feel all gooey inside or take you back in time.

Talking of Grandads! It always make me think of him when I make brown bread toast with raspberry jam! He used to bring it up to me and my sister when we stayed over and we had breakfast in bed...and always got crumbs in the bed!

Awwwww. Grampa's are the best!

They are, my poor grandad is still in hospital, he's not let go yet!

What is the prognosis? Is he still coherent or communicating?

i so miss my grandad, i spend most of my childhood with my nan and grandad but he got upset with me when i fell pregnant with scott (i was 16) and i lost contact, i have spoke to him a few times, but not for months and months at a time

hmm smells - well its a bit of a starnge one, but horse manure/farm smells but just reminds me of being little, i spent alot of time at the stables with my horse (ok shetland pony lol) used to go when i was sad and always be cheered up xXx

freshly cut grass makes me happy and also the smell of a log burning fire x

Ooo yes, freshly cut grass! I love that, it's truly a summer smell.

For me it has to be coconut. It reminds me of when I was little and going on holiday as my mum used to use a sun lotion that smelt of coconut!

Lisa, sorry to hear about your Grandad. I didn't know. Is he expected to make a recovery, it doesn't sound like it from your post.

It's so lovely to hear how so many of you have such fond memories of your Grandparents, I wish I could say the same.

yeah, i have invited him to my wedding, and i have spoken to him a few times, but its not quite the same if you know what i mean, im due to go to uni next year so im hoping that will makes things better also, as i was the 1st person in my family that was gonna go to uni and make something of myself and my grandad was so proud of me, so when i fell pg at 16 he was very disappointed and see it as i have ruined my life. xXx

Mines weird i like the smell of petrol when im filling the car up i have no idea why and no i do not have a problem i just like the smell
I also like the smell of chlorine again i have no idea why im just plain wierd!x
