the sensory rooms (the proper ones) are insanely expensive - but you could set up a diy one at home and gain access to a proper one (like a snoezelen room http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snoezelen) either through your local occupational therapy department or lots of day centres/respite centres allow access from the community. Places funded by either the council/local social work department have them, or organisations like sense and capability scotland (obviously just in scotland ). I know that some of these places can come to private arrangements if you can't get services from the organisation that owns the room.

Sure, apply for it - you won't know until you try. Try SEN resources http://www.tts-group.co.uk/shops/tts/Catalogue.aspx?nguid=f2d22b04-f2fc-4f16-9e0b-02536f307426 Worth a look on Ebay too: http://shop.ebay.co.uk/?_from=R40&_trksid=p3907.m570.l1313&_nkw=SEN+sensory&_sacat=See-All-Categories These might be worth a look for cheaper things, touchy-feely objects, flashing/glowing things: http://www.glow-sticks.org/ http://www.happyglowlucky.co.uk/ And for ideas - http://www.thesensorycompany.co.uk/default.aspx http://www.spacekraft.co.uk/ Perfect time of year (even better in Jan sales) to shop for LED lighting / fibre optics (like these: http://www.festive-lights.com/battery-lights/blue-led-indoor-battery-star-light.html and http://uk.shop.com/Christmas_Rope_Light_indoor_and_outdoor_4m-49551443-64306662-p+.xhtml?sourceid=309 ) Hth xx

I think its a fab idea, and much more essential than a holiday, think how much it will improve her quality of life. You mightas well apply that is what it's there for, to help children like Lumpy x

You should totally go for it! Anything that makes things easier for her, must be worth it. It may sound silly, but have you tried getting some sort of relaxing lights to put around her cot area? When Aimee was in hospital, they used to bring these lights (standard type that you would put up at Xmas, that move slowly, fast, etc.) into intensive care and put them on the cots to entertain the kids. It may relax her a bit xx
