Sleep help! _
PostSubject: Sleep help!   Sleep help! EmptyThu Oct 21, 2010 7:34 am

I think I have got myself stuck in a bit of a rut and I cant get to sleep until about 2am...then Aimee is up at 6am.

My bump feels so uncomfortable when I go to bed, but im not sure if its in my head now, as by 2am I feel fine and can sleep.

I have tried pillows and everything I can think of, but nothing helps.

I am thinking that this all in my head now which is making me not sleep.

Has anybody got any good advice?

Oh dear Sad Are you catching up during the day at all?

All just generic stuff but maybe worth a try:
Reading a book; with low lighting if poss
Not closing your eyes if lying there waiting to sleep - look up at the ceiling can tire your eyes out apparently
Warm milk (half a cup) before bed
Bath before bed, with some nice bubble bath to relax
Having a note pad to write down any thoughts swimming round in your head
EITHER try napping in the day OR try not to nap - so you're tired for bed
Try a gentle walk - can also help with leg cramps; as can stretches before bed
More cushions can help but good luck as big bumpage is hard to get comfy with!
Chamomile Tea, half a cup to prevent more midnight loo calls
Stroking something - a teddy, your OH (!), the pillow... sounds random but the repetitive motion can help you switch off, as can counting the strokes
Same thought as above but trying slow, gentle breathing - counting each complete breath - either count down from a daft number like 1000 or count up - or try both!

Have you got extra pillows / pregnancy pillows to use? Maybe try the other side of the bed?! Really feel for you though, there's nothing quite like feeling knackered and not being able to go off - then being rudely awoken very early!! Maybe Aimee's pattern might change with clocks changing next week? (What time does she go to bed - maybe later might help adjust?) xx

Sorry I can't help with any practical suggestions other than sympathy! I am the other way round though! Asleep by 11 at the latest and awake from about 2!!

Am going to be trying some of Graces suggestions!

I tend to get out of bed as I find just lying in bed makes me stressed and even more unable to sleep!!

Hope you manage to get some sleep Hun!

Xxxx

Laughing
I would say horlicks / hot choc instead but I think the sugar in them has the oposite effect!

Another good one, if you have a word search - do it without a pen. Just go through the list one by one trying to find each word at a time - the harder the better (sure you can get them online to print out too?). Before you know it (hopefully) the letters will be all mushed up and blurry in front of your eyes as you get sleepy... ('cos you've bored yourself to sleep and worn your eyes out too) Wink xx

I have a card game on my phone that I play that does the same thing!

Have decided to concentrate on the fact that the lack of sleep is helping me to get ready for when bubs is here!
