Feeling a bit terratorial _
PostSubject: Feeling a bit terratorial   Feeling a bit terratorial EmptyFri Oct 22, 2010 1:42 am

I have no idea what's going on but my neighbours are having some building work done. All along the fence line is a a brick wall and they're cutting through the external wall to make a doorway. I'm hoping for their sake it's just a conservatory as I've checked back over 5 years on our local planning application website and they deffo don't have planning permission. Am I just being a bit terratorial or right to be a little pissed off that they haven't even mentioned it to us? It's not the other half of our semi but the house at the side of our garden (so in theory next door but one). We share the fence and they've cut back all my gorgeous Virginia Creeper and ruined it Mad I'd have expected at least for them to pop over and say they're having some building work so sorry for the noise! Feckers!

that's a bit rude not mentioning it!

my mum and dad caught their neighbour flooring their attic and it came over onto my mum and dads side. not only did they not mention it, or have planning permission they were stealing my mum and dads attic space!
my dad threatened legal action and there's been no work since Laughing Laughing

I think its quite rude! If they are doing anything that interferes with your garden they should have the good manners to let you know, not just go ahead!

I'm so glad our only real neighbour is my nan (miserable git next door doesn't count cos theres a huge thick wall between us heheeh), and before that on the farm the only neighbours were the parents lol

Did find it really hard those 6 months in the bungalow, literally right on top of every there cos it was all so crammed in!

I reckon I'd fall out with neighbours Embarassed Laughing

They should have mentioned something.

I would just keep an eye on what they are doing.

We have planning permission to extend above our current extension and our neighbour is not happy about it. We will still do the right thing though and try to reason with her before we go ahead x

I don't really mind them doing it, it won't really effect us once it's there, as long as there is no window looking into our garden and it's not 2 storey. I'm just naffed off that no one even mentioned it.

Laura you're a good neighbour x

To be honest i dread the day we come to speak to her. She is elderly, and although it doesn't affect her property at all, I would hate to put her through stress at her age. I'm hoping as we get on now that it will all be ok.

I am sure it is just a conservatory they are having x

I think and hope so as I'm sure I'd have noticed them digging deeper foundations otherwise. It's a bit odd that they haven't added it to the other side of the house though as it'll have a brick wall to most of the sun, it'll be facing the wrong way!!!

Call your municipality and see if there was any permits. We are dealing with this right now, and getting a surveyor out to measure property lines. If they change the grade of the land, causing water to drain into your yard..they are liable and must fix it immediately. And as far as cutting down your vines..I would be livid. You can freak them out just by going outside and snapping pics of your property..they will think something serious is up!
