One bloody bug after another. I wrote about 3 weeks ago about how C had a viral chest infection and an ear infection and was on antibiotics. She perked up for a couple of days after finishing her antibugs then about 10 days ago started with teething her bottom canines. Ive had to give her calpol almost daily for last 10 days and in those 10 days only had about 3 or 4 she aint been up crying in the night, have had 4 days now of being awake on and off since 4 ish. Havent had her checked cos i figured was teeth but today all she had eaten by 2 was a few cheerios and a piece of cheese. When she woke from her nap she was crying and i was cuddlng her on the sofa, pressed on her tummy and she went totally batshit. Waited til she calmed a bit and checked her tummy again, same reaction. So took her to docs, she had a temp of 37-6 an hour after calpol so had been about 37-8 to 38 at home id guess - proves i need a new fecking thermometer as mine was reading 35-6! They checked her chest and throat which was fine so cough aint gone to chest and her wee was clear. However her ears are red but theres no pus so they think shes got a viral ear infection. So nothing can be done but calpol and fluids and see if body fights it off itself. Apparently the tummy pain is something called mesenteric adenitis. Had to look this up as id heard the term but didnt know what it was. Apparently unlike adults who get swollen glands in their neck when they are ill kids get swollen glands in their tummy, so shes got these and thats why her tummy is sore. Im gonna be very glad for some kind of break as we have now done 4 molars, straight into 1st bug, into canine teeth and now another bug. Im sure C will be even more grateful for a break from feeling rubbish. She did cheer up a bit after calpol this afternoon and had an entire sausage for dinner (never thought id be pleased about that) then was arguing with me about what colour the cat was

Aww, the poor lil' mite Oliver's cold lingered for ages and then it kicked off last week when he was ill with ear infection (thats when the doc prescribed that nasal spray for 12yr+ ) but his logic was to drain his nasal tubes in the hope it would ease his ear ache..I was going to try those saline nasal drops - do you think that might help for C? I hope she gets well soon though. xx

Oh yeah it might do ta Zee. Im off to mothercare tommorrow to buy a decent thermometer after realising how out mine was today and boots is right next door so will pop in and get some. Her nose is def still snotty so maybe if that clears it might help her ears as you say. Gotta top up my calpol and brufen supplies too so def worth a trip!

After our palarva with the doc's I was going to get the drops for him but the he had a brill night that night and has been bright as a bobbin since. I hope it works for C though. I keep meaning to get a battery for my thermometer Haven't got a clue where to get them though. I was using them forehead strip ones that told me he had a 'slight fever'

Cheers hon. Got a braun ear thermometer yesterday. Set me back £32 but at least i might have some idea if shes got a temp now rather than using the back of the hand 'she feels warm' method. Temps still 37-8 today so shes had some more calpol but seems a bit happier and ate a big bowl of shreddies with milk for brekkie and has had a couple of spoonfuls of pasta bolognese for lunch. Dont think shes gonna eat much of it so ive got her a pouch for after I also got her some 6 month plus bedtime milk yesterday so i can give her cows milk at getting up, nesquik at lunch and formula at bedtime as a top up til she eats more and some multivits with omega 3, abidec - lemon flavour which she doesnt seem too averse too Fingers crossed by early next week these two teeth will be through (swelling right up to top of gum now so cant be far), ears and tum will be all better and she might have some appetite back cos i thought the days of buying formula were behind me
