I've been feeling really tired, dizzy, am pale looking, headaches, palpatations and generally feeling bleugh, I have googled anaemia in pregnancy and it does say those could be signs of anaemia but also how you could generally feel in pregnancy. I haven't got anymore blood tests for a while (if any), and I'm not seeing my MW til 17th December (seeing my consultant on 22nd November though), do you think it could be anaemia and if so should I see if I can get in to see my MW?

I probably should mention that I'm not really eating very well (not alot) and have to force myself to drink as well so wondering if that's what it is as well?

My iron levels were absolutely fine with Libby so I haven't got anything to compare with.

Sorry for being a complete pain in the ass!!!

Im not sure hun but wondered could you call you MW just to mention it to her and see what she suggests? She might get you in for extra bloods or something, in meantime try and eat foods high in iron (sure if you google itll give you a list) see if that makes you feel any better?

You could try your MW or failing that speak to your gp and explain your symptoms, they should take more bloods and not make you wait until dec.

Keep us posted hun xxx

Are you taking a multi-vitamin? (I'm not Smile ) but it might help?
Also make sure you drink plenty - headaches can be brought on by dehydration - and eating little and often to keep blood sugars up rather than leaving it a long time between eating and having peaks & troughs. Aside from that, it can't harm speaking to a mw - can they do a pinkprick test for iron levels or is it full blood test, hosp. trip etc? xx

Thanks Steph and NayNay - I felt a bit better yesterday afternoon, which is normally when I feel yucky and I think that's because I made an effect and had lunch (I normally skip lunch Rolling Eyes ).

Grace, no I'm not taking any vits and thats the only thing I'm doing differently this time, I think I'll go and get some (thank you, I didn't even think about that!). And with regards to a blood test, I will actually have to make an appointment with the blood clinic at the nearest hospital (8 miles away) which is what is putting me off, I'm so lazy Embarassed

Thanks Clare

Yeah I know Steph, I'll make more of an effort to eat lunch. With regards to my MW coming to see me, she'll only want me to have a blood test and they are so useless around here that they don't take bloods so it's a case of going to the hospital anyway Mad

I'll carry on with eating lunch and buy some multi vits and see if that makes any difference.

Even if your like I was and maybe have lunch a bit later than normal, as I found I didn't want it but then when I started eating it a bit later when I was more hungry I ate it, if that makes sense? Def try vitamins too they won't do no harm. God mws are rubbish but I'd still mention it next time you see her just to see what she suggests? Babys probably taking a lot from you at min so best to try and have a least 3 decent meals a day or snack on loads of fruit, throughout the day (I did that with Hannah and was never tired) this time I've not been so good until the end with fruit and I can honestly say it's made a difference in howworn out I was feeling, I still am naughty with sweets and biscuits but the fruit is giving me way more energy I've been on floor with Hannah playing loads this week, whereas last week I struggled with her on my knee reading.

Yeah I'll mention it when I see her next.

I will definately make more of an effort with my eating and get some more fruit in me (well any fruit will be better than what I have at the moment Embarassed Laughing )

Thank you for the advice hun xx

Do your fingernails or gums look pale? Can be a sign of anaemia. Its a tricky one as all the above are symptoms of it but also pregnancy general symptoms. I'd def give your midwife a ring and see what she says. In meantime try iron fortified cereal, green leafy veg and potatoes for iron. I do sympathise with you though on the small appetite, im now 18 1/2 weeks and 15lb lighter than when i found out at 4 weeks for same reason.

Defintately make sure you drink as a lot of those symptoms are also dehydration symptoms, i get hormone headaches in preg anyway and know they get much worse when i dont drink enough. My mw also said to me baby will always be fine as they take what they need from you, in a scientific sense a bubba is just a wee parasite as it feeds off you so the only one who will suffer if you skip food is you. If you dont feel like a big meal graze a couple of times through mornin and afternoon and as much as we all want a balanced diet get what you feel like down you, ive never eaten so many cheese sandwiches as throgh this preg as often bread and cheese is all i can face.

Thanks Mario, I do find it so difficult to eat, I was fine the first few weeks (would eat literally anything I saw!!!) but now I have to force myself to make something - which is stupid because I'm making Libby lunch etc.

I've just checked my gums and neither those nor my nails are pale so it must be lack of vits, food and drink. I will force myself to eat and drink as feeling the way I have is horrible and I'll nip out later and get some vits.

Thanks again xx

It could be hun. I have had similar and my midwife told me I am borderline anemic, so recommended Spatone, which are sachets of water with iron and you pop it in an orange juice. She said that they dont have the side effects of tablets, etc. and should sort me out.
