| According to 'Baby Led Weaning experts' babies/toddlers will, when given a choice, pick the food they require nutritionally
Personally I think this is a pile of poop! Sorry if that offends anyone who believes it!
The reason I say that is because Izzy will eat potato over EVERYTHING...all the time!
I do boil them with the skins on, so don't get me wrong I KNOW they are still good for her, however I also know that she doesn't (of her own doing) get enough green veggies down her neck ( I have to hide them in quiche etc) So surely if she isn't eating greens by herself then her picking spuds every time over cabbage, broccolli, carrots, well any veg means she doesn't 'know' what she needs?!
If I don't give her spuds she will eat the vegs more often than not.
Do you find that your toddler will naturally pick a well balanced diet or you you think that without intervention and given 100% free choice they would stuff themselves with just one thing they like?! I am sure Izzy would eat spuds til she actually grew them in her ears if I let her! |

| I think they eat what they like best. Caitlin loves veg and will eat it all first if I let her. Then she will eat potatoes and most of the meat ends up politely disgarded with a sneer & a laugh on to the floor . She does eat mince, sausages, fish fingers and chicken nuggets but refuses pork/chicken/fish that isnt crumbed.... really need to work on that! Hiding meat in mash potato isnt even working anymore as she insists on feeding herself. She cant use a spoon herself yet and just picks the meat out with her fingers and sucks the mash up If I want her to eat something I have to hide the rest of the meal or else she just points at the plate going crazy screaming to get the veg. Even with spaghetti bolognese she will eat all the mushrooms 1st. I always plate up her dinner and put a few things on her highchair for her to pick at herself & then give her more as she finishes. |

| tylers fav at the moment is bread... or fruit but raisins in particular which is good... I suppose he doesn't feed himself that often just yet though but bread will always go first if I put it all on a plate for him. |
