Me and my OH moved down to Oxfordshire in 2008 a few days after we got married and have lived down here since.

My SIL is always commenting that we dont go and see her and my brother and the kids when we do come up north....bearing in mind that we dont go up north very often and when we do we travel up Friday night rush hour traffic and come back Sunday afternoon and then were expected to go round seeing everyone just to please them.

They are also the sort of people that we have to book an appointment to go and see you cant just turn up unannounced.

My brother had an operation yesterday to remove some varicose veins from his leg which I didn't know about and she's said well you were up at the weekend you could have popped round and we would have said. In fact you have been up loads this year and not been to see us...a bit confused as to why.

I can count the amount of times we have been to see them this year and also how many times we have been round and no one has been in.....

But more to the point as I have told her today...why the bloody hell do we always have to make the effort, if they want to see us well they can have my address, get in there blooming car and come and see us!!

Im am so fed up of people saying they dont see enough of us, I mean seriously how do they think we get to Yorkshire....on a Magic Carpet????!!!!!! Lol!!

What I really wanted to say to her was......

Well if you werent such an f'in miserable cow then maybe I would come and see you more often!!!!!

that pisses me right off when people whinge about not seeing you but dont get off their arses and come see you!

my best friend of 32 years ( i am 32) hasnt seen Alice since she was 8 weeks old and now as a matter of principle i dont contact her or go see her, as she doesnt me. it makes me sad but it also makes me fecking angry that she cant be arsed.

sorry turned into my own mini rant there!

Just tell her - the road travels both ways! xxx

I know that feeling!!

I also know about relatives who have an inability to work out that the road goes both ways!! My brother is a case in point! I haven't seen him for about 18 months!! Although he give him his dues he doesn't moan about not seeing me!!

I know what you mean, I havent seen my nan since Ollie's funeral and she literally lives a 10 minute drive away, her and my grampa both drive and I don't, yet she's asking my mum when I'm going to pop up! WTF like it shouldn't be my job to worry about contacting her, when she hasn't even sent me a text to see how I am!
