Evening all

I decided to clean my oven earlier, its filthy! Well i squirted the oven cleaner on it and left it for 1 hour but it hasnt removed half of the crap on it especially the on the door, So i was just wondering do any of you ladies have any miracles for cleaning disgusting ovens?

Thanks

Tackle the oven regularly and it needn’t become your shameful secret!
Every day: It’s hard to imagine having the discipline to wipe out the oven after every use, but deep down you know it makes sense – just think about never having to do a huge oven blitz again.
Cleaning a dirty oven requires either natural materials and elbow grease or a pretty scary chemical attack. Ovens Oven-md

The non-caustic method calls for, you guessed it, bicarbonate of soda, mixed to a thick paste and smeared all over the inside of the oven. Leave overnight then brace yourself for some serious scrubbing with water and a scourer.
The caustic method requires less graft but more prep. You need a solution of ammonia bleach and water, a respiratory face mask, thick rubber gloves, protective clothes and the surrounding area needs to be well protected, too. Take the oven shelves outside, spray them with your solution and seal them into a bin bag. Spray the oven with the bleach. After a couple of hours, hose down the racks (keeping away from plants, pets, neighbours etc) then wash them in warm soapy water. Rinse out the oven with plenty of clean water. Pregnant women and asthmatics should avoid this like the plague, and keep children and pets well out of it, too.

I dont use any spray stuff

I use soap pads, they are like little wire sponges with soap in - they clean it up fab! just make sure you wear gloves and put paper down!

I thought mine was bad BUT I did a cleaning job the other day - just a one off BIG clean...6 hours!

I swear I spent 2 hours in the oven! I had to spray it twice with whatever stinky stuff that made me stick my head out the door...even then it wasn't clean!

Mine doesn't look as bad since!

I use Mr Muscle oven cleaner, you spray it on and it turns to foam then after an hour or so you just wipe it off and YAY clean oven. I use it on the oven, hobs and wire racks and I normally forget about it for 2 hours lol it is so easy just a paper towel wipes it off.

(or you could pay someone £30 to do it, the paper has oven cleaner ads) and the don't use chemicals, I've never used them though, my Mr Muscle is cheaper lol xxx

LOL Katie, thats as bad as me...I have had my oven for 8 years, it works perfectly and the glass top is fault-less, but it needs a new bulb in the bottom oven AND for 2 years since we have been here the feet have been wonky at the front, so stuff like omelettes and pancakes always tip tip slightly to the front of the frying pan...which is VERY annoying!

So yes I too want a new frikin oven....with straight feet! (or maybe just get someone to lift it up while i move the feet?!)

You can usually unscrew the panels michelle and remove the inner glass (leaving the door panel still attached), very fiddly though and when you take it apart look carefully as to how the washers/screws connect. My mum or MIL took ours apart when we moved in last year and a tiny washer thing fell in the whole, took ages to get it out.

Iv often thought of using oven pride but thought it might be a con. Our oven was cleaned when we moved in last Nov and then I gave it a quick scrub week before xmas and dont think iv touched it since Embarassed
