Knowing i have geographic tongue why the feck do i keep eating and drinking acidy or salty things. I now have no skin left on top or sides of my tongue and its burning like hell

Im not hugely restricted i just have to acceptthat if i choose to eat somthing like pineapple or something very tomatoey im gonna suffer fo it

TBH when im not pg its not as bad. When i am it seems toflare yup all the time

i think having googled it when my gp told me what it was its called benign migratory glossitis but the lay term is continental tongue or geographic tongue cos of the appearance of the bald patches

I have never heard of it before today! Have seen burn like injuries on the tongue before, but always figured it was from consuming hot things. I remember once having a conversation with the dentist I was employed with about how he's seen a patient that would constantly get a mystery rash and sores on and in her mouth. Everyone was scratching their heads over this, including her own GP, until she finally linked it herself, turns out she had a sensitivity to semen! LOL!!!

Yes, its usually painless unless i have pineappe but i get a lot of painful flareups in preg

my kids sometimes find that bean juice stings a little and pure orange xx jamies gets quite sore when he ill x

yea it does and usualy sometimes they get mouth ulcers too as my eldest get them but jamie hasnt yet.. they get it from oh dad ! there grandad !.. I may take a pick of there tongues as show u guys tomo lol

How strange - I had never heard of this but googled it when you said because it sounded like what I have - never knew it was a 'thing' just thought I was weird!

The worst thing for me is tomatoes, but not all tomatoes! It literally rips the top of my tongue off, and can be stingy if I ate more later, but doesnt really hurt or owt, just looks awful!

Oh well, there is no cure, so I didn't gain much by learning it has a name, but least I am not actually a weirdo!
