| Need you opinions. Tom my 11 year old is so like my ass. They ave been back at school 7 weeks and so far he has lost 2 school jumpers (£15 each) 2 shirts (not expensive) and today a pair of trousers (£16). Now he has been to lost property and replaced the jumpers but the shirts are know where to be found. I am giving him till the end of school tomorrow to find the trousers. I have just made him go to tesco with his own money to buy himself some new school shirts. I feel really guilty for this now but i just cant think of any other way of making him remember his school clothes!! He was saving up for a ps3 headset but now doesnt have enough. Am i wrong?? Need reassurance and support xxx |

| i would say it's not too harsh, at his age he needs to learn responsibility for his property and the value of things am sure in the long run he'll appreciate it! |

| Is he just being careless or could someone be stealing them? How the hell could he lose a pair of trousers, lol |

| when are they going missing? after PE or something, could anyone be taking them off him for a joke or his he being careless?
If he is just being careless I would say 100% doing the right thing, it'll teach him that money doesn't grow on trees |

| mara i would do the same! ashleigh loses everything and when i have bought her expensive shoes boots coats sh e ruins them or loses them but has no remorse for it at all .. but tries to blame others..so the pocket money she earns at the moment is goign towards a ew coat as i reuse to buy her one as she just didnt care where she had lost it too!!
so no your not harsh your teaching them respect |

| Hey, I know how you feel my 13 year old has always lost his clothes/coats. Your son is probably like mine and it's a case of "easy come, easy go"! I think you've done the right thing as these kids do need to understand the value of things and the importance of taking responsibility for their possessions.
Well done you!
If you do feel really bad about the ps head set, them make him do a few jobs to earn a bit if cash towards them.

| I'm not sure that kids actually steal items of uniform, do they??? I know with my son it's a case of just picking them up after pe or taking his jumper off because he's hot! |

| hun thats not harsh, you have to teach them responsiblity. but i'd write his name in them, in case someone is borrowing them....
rich is always coming home in someone elses clothes, so i went mad, as his shirts are white not grey... now he is much better and he always wears character socks, as his black socks disappeared alot |

| No he "misplaces" them after PE or football. Maybe someone has taken the trousers by accident but i doubt it in high school. He has admitted himself that he forgets to pick things up!! Hes deffo not being bullied, we are very close and he tells me everything. Grrrr i hate the guilt of parenting!!! |

| It's hard being the heavy, infact heartbreaking. Remember when our parents would say - This is going to hurt us more than it hurts you? It is so true!!! Hugs hun. xxx |

| If he is losing them through carelessness hun then I think he should pay towards new ones. This might make him more responsible in future if he knows he will have to pay for replacements xx |

| If they are definately just being misplaced then I htink this is the only way to teach him, if he realises he'll have to shell out for new ones then hopefully he will be more carefulo in the future x |

| I am totally behind you in making him pay for the replacement clothes. My nephew is forever losing stuff and SIL moans constantly about it and my advice was to make him pay for it.
I also like the idea of getting him to do jobs to earn the money. |
