-*ll i know a few of you know in last 2 months C had a rough time with ear infections and general bugs and was not -really unwell but off colour a lot of th time. Thankfully she seems to have finally cleared them and for the first time is not snotty, not pulling on her ears, sleeping better (well bac to 7 til 6 usually) and eating better for caelyn. But shes still got this cough shes had for a fortnight now. It sounds quite rattly not dry or barky like she is producing mucus but obv cant see what colour it is. She doesnt seem hot and ive checked her temp and its fine. But its annying her, she seems ok most of day but she gets it a lot bedtime and first thing in morning and has thrown up in the morning a couple of times from hacking so hard. She also gets it if shes been running around for any length f time - she was barkinga good un at soft play other day and last night after playing round and round. With me being asthmatic and that being how my asthma presents (i rarely wheeze but cough til im gaggig) obv i wanna make sure its not that but am not sure how long i should leave it before having her checke to see if it settles.Dont wanna be a naggy or neurotic mother but its obv bothering her a bit and if shes coughing til shes sick is probably making her ache a bit i should imagine as i know i do when i hack that bad and theres not really anything i can do to soothe it for her Opinions on a postcard gratefully received

I don't think it's naggy or neurotic... once you said she gets it if shes been running I thought asthma straight away. Isn't it better to get her checked now and hopefully somek ind of treatment before it get's really bad? Even if it was naggy or neurotic who cares she's your daughter.. you wouldn't be the first and you absolutely won't be the last go for it x

Mario if this post was coming from any of us you'd tell us to get her checked over! Who cares if it is neurotic or not she's your baby and it's highly likely to be asthma. X

if she's been unwell, the gp told me that cough's can last for weeks, even months after...but if it last's more than 3 weeks then thats when you should go get it checked just incase!! just trust your instinct hun and if you feel you should get her checked then thats what theyre there for x

I'd take her to be checked over! SO what if they think your neurotic, this is C's health and even if it's nothing it's better for a dr to confirm that its nothing x

I'd get her checked for piece of mind, thats what doc's are there for! No need to feel bad. Hope her cough clears up soon.

| I'm pretty sure neurotic, naggy and over protective are in the 'mothers' job description!!
I think if it were me I'd go and get her checked over. Like Gemz said coughs can last for weeks but with the history of Asthma it's worth checking it out.
I know I'd rather suffer the slight embarrassment of being over protective if it's just a cough than the guilt of not getting it checked out and it does turn out to be more than just a cough! If that makes any sense x |

As the other ladies have said Mario, you are not being neurotic, you are a concerned mummy. I'm sure I read somewhere that they don't actually diagnose children with Ashma until they are turned two but I could be wrong. xx

if she is coughing so much its making her sick then ur def not neurotic for getting her checked out! best to be safe than sorry my sil is never away from docs with my nephew poor wee guy is only 3 and seems to get croup alot and they have said he is asthmatic and on his 2nd bday he was in hosp with swine flu and pneumonia (caused by the swine flu) so she obv worries a bit, well last time they were at docs it was cos she said it was like he was choking for no reason wasnt chokin on anything jst chokin and i thought oh ffs he maybe jst coughing or whatever well he got referred to hosp and they reckon it might be that cos he has had croup so much he now has a blockage in his throat and thats why he is choking and he now has to go for scope! so pls dont ever feel neurotic even if it seems the dumbest thing get it checked it!! i feel neurotic every time i go to docs and i even said to doc i feel like im annoying u lol cos ive been here loads recently (i said this cos i know how i feel wen i answer the phone in my work and its the same ppl every day wanting to see the doc) and he said when it comes to a child u can never be to careful
