one of my friends has a 7 month old , she weaned him early at 14 weeks. last week after having weetabix for the first time he was violently sick and everytime she feeds him he can't keep anything down, she took him to casualty the other night because she was worried about dehydration, they have said he was fine and referred her to a paedaetrician . In the meantime she's been advised to stop weaning and just give him milk, her appointments not until the end of next week, does this sound right?

i have no idea but stories like these give me the horrors - i can't imagine how horrible it must be to have a poorly baby and feel it was something i did that started it! if he is a coeliac he could still be poorly til all of the weetabix is completely out of his system but he should get back to normal after that...maybe as he is so close to 6 months they reckon he will be fine just on milk til the end of the week, im not sure i would be happy though.

it was last tuesday when it started, i don't think its a bug because he's managing to keep milk down just no solids at all.

hmmm Izzy had gastroenteritis and kept milk down but no solids, that lasted about 10-14 days before she was able to properly eat again

Dunno just seems odd that he would puke everything back up all of a sudden

My Lo had a problem with Wheat when she first started to eat it, it would give her the runs big time,
Since i have really slowily introduced it back into her diet, and so far so good, we haven't had any problems since,
This would only last for a few hours till it was out of her system,

thanks for the replies, hopefully she'll get some answers next week . The HV had a go at her today because of the early weaning so its made her feel so much worse.

typical HV...I think the main purpose in their lives is to belittle parents who are trying to do the best by their kids

HVs have short memories and it wasn't that long ago.....like 3 years...that they advised weaning at 4 months!
