I'm not sure it means he is ready to use a potty, from what I know they go through the stages, 1st they know and can tell you that they need a change, 2nd is they know/can tell you they need to go, but can't hold it, and 3rd they are able to hold it and therefore ready to use the potty.
Obviously at 10 months he is probably quite far off being able to hold it and go to the potty, so chances are you putting him on the potty won't train him any faster....he is only going to be able to hold it in when his body is able to
I am going with the starting later, learning faster method...so not even thinking about it til she is 2. She is at stage 1, and sometimes 2 for a poo but not often.
I agree that having the potty around is no harm, Izzy doesnt take much notice, has the odd sit on it but tbh I think she will go straight to having a little seat on the loo as she is obsessed with it!
Iam pretty sure Izzy wont have the poo flushing fear lol she she thinks its hilarious to put things down and flush it away
