I dont really want to start potty training Tyler until he can talk and understand better... but about 90% of the time when we're at home he goes to one of two places to have a pooh.
This to me says he does know when a pooh is going to happen it can't be coincidence that he's always in the same place when he poohs can it.

So do I get the potty out and just put it in the place where he poohs so he gets used to seeing it and will know what it is when it comes to training?
or do I try and pop him on it when he goes to have a pooh ( might be a bit hard if he's weating lots of clothes)
or do i just leave it till he's bigger and can tell me he needs a pooh?

Im not particulary keen to do anything now just wondered what you lovely ladies would do

no harm in having it around the house so he can get used to being there although i wudnt actively start potting trainging
ive had evans sat out since he was bout 1 he uses it as a chair he isnt ready to be potty trained yet tho he doesnt say when he is needing or has been but he knows if he is naked to sit on the potty he jst dont seem to know why lol,
i was asking hv bout it the other day and she said she personally recommends to start potty training between 24-27 months
but no harm in gettin him used to it and if he does go then its a bonus really and u will know when he is ready

I'm not sure it means he is ready to use a potty, from what I know they go through the stages, 1st they know and can tell you that they need a change, 2nd is they know/can tell you they need to go, but can't hold it, and 3rd they are able to hold it and therefore ready to use the potty.

Obviously at 10 months he is probably quite far off being able to hold it and go to the potty, so chances are you putting him on the potty won't train him any faster....he is only going to be able to hold it in when his body is able to

I am going with the starting later, learning faster method...so not even thinking about it til she is 2. She is at stage 1, and sometimes 2 for a poo but not often.

I agree that having the potty around is no harm, Izzy doesnt take much notice, has the odd sit on it but tbh I think she will go straight to having a little seat on the loo as she is obsessed with it!
Iam pretty sure Izzy wont have the poo flushing fear lol she she thinks its hilarious to put things down and flush it away

Wil knows when he is doing a poo and if you ask him he will tell you. If he pulls poo faces we shout 'run to the toilet' and he does. If he gets there in time we put him on and he does what he needs to do. He is no where near ready for potty training but he is aware of the toilet and what is for.

Im leaving it as late as i can as well. I think its a personal experience to them and may cause confidence issues if rushed x

yeh see I dont want to even attempt it and don't want him to get confused about what the potty is about!

I think I'll leave it for a bit and just wait till he's ready and hope for the leave it later learn quicker !

I dont think it harms to have it round the house. C has had hers since a year old. Shes now at stage where she can tell me as shes going with poo, not much clue with wee yet and we got a poo in the potty almost by mistake the other day but shes not confident sitting over the hole so im also waiting til shes more ready and if we catch some in the meantime its all good, if we dont no biggie
