Is anyone watching this on discovery RT at the moment? It's about a polygamous family, a man who has 3 wives and is currently courting another. The whole things just bafles me especially when the 3 wives are sat there in tears worrying and feeling jealous of the fourth one. Why would they put themselves through that heartache?

These ladies I would say have been bought up in this culture and I think thats why they put themselves through this as they know no other way of life....I bet he is rubbing his hands together as he gets to dip his wick in even more wax (sorry a bit crude).

Dont know if its the same program but iv saw one before and the women definitley werent brought up with it as the norm. With the exception of one quite confident woman who had two male partners, the rest of the women imo did not have much confidence/self esteem. I dont mean to be judgemental about appearnce/weight etc but a lot of them wernt the prettiest (well they probably could be if they made an effort). It was almost as if they were greatful to have a partner and just put up with it or, more worryingly, they had been brainwashed. A few were also quite young and it was almost like they had been groomed into the lifestyle. I hope you understand what I mean! I dont mean to sound rude about them, in the one I saw it just didnt seem to me that it was 100% what most of the women wanted- it was the mens choice!

well this one they are all part of polygamus family's anyway but they were all bought up to be abel to make their own choices the 1st wife is the one who introduces him to the other women He has 1 kid with the first wife and then he marries the second oen and they ahve a few kids and at the same time he marries a third. Together they all have 13 kids and they all live i one big house that is split into 3 areas so the wives and their chidlren live separately to the other wives but they also all help each other out. so one wife will look after the others kids if that wife is "busy" they say they are like sisters hence the sister wives bit and they do seem very close. One of the older daughters has already said she doesn't want to be polygamous and they are happy for her to make that choice. It's just so odd.. how he can sit there watching his wives crying because they're jealous of this new wife he is going to get. The new wife is younger and prettier than the others. It's all just very odd

I've watched two episodes and was disgusted. It was all about him..and basically the wives can suck it. He is a selfish..pig of a man, who has his cake(s) and is eating them too! I can't believe TLC is airing this crap!

i've been watching it as well, i find it very odd. I did wonder why you'd introduce your oh to that lifestyle in the first place! Its not for me at all, i just dont understand how the wives can let themselves be that unappreciate! But i will continue to watch it!

There was a tv series called Big Love. Not sure if it is still on the air, but it showed the ups and downs..mostly downs of what polygamy was about. Did anyone watch this?

| I saw a documentary about the mormon families I think - loads of kids all from different mothers - the sad thing was the kids thought (had been taught!) that they were better than anyone else
there is the awful thing about the kids being dumped - Lost Boys...''It has been reported by former members that the FLDS Church has excommunicated more than 400 (citation needed, disputed)teenage boys for offenses such as dating or listening to rock music. Some former members claim that the real reason for these excommunications is that there are not enough women for each male to receive three or more wives. Six young adult men, ages 18 to 22, filed a conspiracy lawsuit against Jeffs and Sam Barlow, a former Mohave County deputy sheriff and close associate of Jeffs, for a "systematic excommunication" of young men to reduce competition for wives''
Thats disgusting...the old men sending the young men away so they can keep all the young girls for them selves! |

omg Lisa that's shocking!! Are there many women who have multiple husbands? they must be mad cos one is more than enough part of me feels sorry for these women but then I think well... your quite freely and openly choosing this lifestyle and your even helping him find other wives, I have to admit I do like the idea of the big family with more than 2 adults to help out but helloo just get a nanny if you can't cope right?

I wanna know what job this guy has, they have a massive house, a fair few cars and something like 13 kids! Theres no mention of the wives working is there? The women seem to get on pretty well and they all say they accept the way things are but there's accepting something and being ok with something! The most jelous one is the one thats been married to him the longest and introduced the other wives to him, RANDOM!!
