for the past 4 weeks we have been understaffed due to my work needing to hire a nurse. one of our nurses is pregnant and she cant be near anaesthetic gases or radiography so straight away my work load has increased. I do all the surgery side of things she does all the medical.
so instead of hiring a qualified nurse they hire an animal care assistant. which is fine but she is a lazy cowbag. she basically stood there today and watched me do the work of 2 people. just standing there watching while I tried to bring animals round from anaesthetic and clean at the same time. I didnt say anything because she has worked in veterinary practices for 4 years - she knows the score so I was waiting on her using her initiative.

one of the downsides of my work is we are so busy we dont get to spend much time with each animal - taking for longer walks, grooming, handfeeding as much as we really should do but this girl found time to sit with members of staffs dogs and do this with them
Honestly what a useless waste of fluffing space. one of the first things you learn in any practice in fact any workplace I presume? is teamwork. Im so *$%£ angry I cant express myself.

we also have a student in just now with the worst attitude I have ever come across. shes been in placement for 6 weeks now and I heard her mutter to herself "when the *$%£ is that dog going home" because he was scrabbling in his kennel trying to get out Ive never heard anyone sigh so much in my life and this is a conversation I had with her while holding a pigeon so the vet could look at it

then to top it off after my shift I was stayed behind because id been chatting to the nurse whos pregnant about names and baby stuff and my boss walks up to me and says
stephanie havnt you something useful to be doing?

I just looked at him and said erm yeh going home.

Honestly they should have been paying to double to make up for that useless twats lack of effort she put in today.
my head is now thumping but I feeel ssoooooooo much better for getting this out so thanks for reading if you got this far

awww hun i cant stand lazy bastards and moaners - got a few of them where i work and i just feel like knocking their block off Grrrr. Is the animal care assistant quite young/immature? maybe she needs a tactful word in her shell xx

nope shes actually older than me. has a heap of experience, one place was an actual hospital which in my experience is busier so she has no excuse really except being a lazy cow.

perhaps you should sit back and relax and leave it all up to her for a day, I can't stand people like that, why sould you be rushed off your feet just because shes to lazy to do her fair share

I cant do that. I would find it physically impossible not to help and not to do my share. thats what bloody annoys me. we are all running about trying to get everything done and shes sitting petting the vets dog for half an hour
anyway if its annoying me its got to be annoying the girl whos pregnant ten times more I feel sorry for her she looks miserable

shes just started. I did speak to the head nurse today and she said that I have authority to tell her to do things. but it pisses me off. I find it hard telling people what to do. this student we have in is annoying but she uses her initiative and she works hard for us for no wage.
you have a job and you work for your money end of story.
but anyway I will ask her to do things for me because I cant actually do my job properly without her helping

I know it's easier said thn done but she is getting paid to be there so if you need something done don't feel bad about asking her for help!
