another tax credit question _
PostSubject: another tax credit question   another tax credit question EmptyWed Nov 24, 2010 3:00 am

when you do the calculators...it gives you an award for the period for the forthcoming tax year....is that the total amount which is then divided into monthly amounts???

for example if it said you are entitled to £500 for the period nov 2010 to april 2011 (end of the tax year) - is that 500 divided equally into the remaining months?

im so f*cking confused Laughing god...no wonder i failed my maths exams....

I cant believe they wont give you the figures? Shocked

When I thought I was getting a job (ha didnt even get an interview in the end Crying or Very sad ) They were able to tell me what my WTC would be aswell as the CTC including childcare.

Id guess the amount is divided into remaining months.

they will probably do the same with me, but it doesn't look (from the calculators) like it would be worth the hassle - i would need a LOT of money for very little effort haha and taking my baby to a childminder is not very enticing at all Very Happy

When I have been working mine out on their calculator, I just put in the situation I 'would be in' if I left work and it will give you your entitlement.

Just play around with the different options.

Yes, it is the remaining months with the figure you would get, so just divide it by 4 (months left for this year) and that will be what you would get monthly x

Remember to change baby age if looking at what you would get in a years time as it would be different when over 1 x

oh...thanks laura (im seriously hopeless with any kind of maths Embarassed ) so if i put it in now...that is the quote for nov, dec, jan, feb, march...so if i just got it feb/march it would be the total divided by 4 then x2 or rather...the total halved, then halved again for monthly???

i really just need to know for now - luckily for me eli isn't 1 til may so that simplifies things for this tax year!

might have a tinker around and see if i can make any sense of trying to get an idea for next year too...although that probably won't work well because it will only give me 4 months of quote, but if i increase eli's age by a year then times the quote by 3 then divide by 12 it might give me a vague estimate.....

Yeah, if you put it in now it would be the last week of nov plus 4 whole months.

If you want to know next years rough estimate just put in what your circumstances would be, add a year on for his age and then you would time the figure by 3 and divide by 12... Spot on x

cant you just divide the figure it gives you by 4? to get the monthly figure?
the figure it gives you is for 4 months right so to work out 1 month just divide by four no need to times by 3 (to give 12 months) and then divide by 12

ah! but if i want to find out what i might get next year (i.e after april) i need to change the baby's date of birth to make him over one...then times the total by 3 to make it a years worth of quote then divide by 12 to find out what next year would be monthly! Laughing

another tax credit question 548646

I agree with Jade - surely times by 3 and divide by 12 gives exactly the same answer as if you simply divide by 4 scratch

Just changes Eli's date of birth to 2009 instead of 2010 hun.

I hope you have better luck than us!

I told them I was self employed and earning £300 or so less but still doing 16 hours

S regardless of anything else we should still get child part which I think is £40 or something

Not had a penny for 3 months Rolling Eyes
