I have worked for the same company for nearly 8 years now!!
. A short while after I started my then manager (he was lovely) wanted to give me a payrise but his hands were tied. One way he did it was to get trained up as an Station Announcer (such an easy job), that way I could cover for comfort breaks and during times of disruption etc. It was a meagre payrise Anyway, they took the p*ss and started adding to their rosters and booking their leave and arranging me to cover early and late shifts and weekends etc.
The agreement was to cover 9-5 mon to fri for short periods and not to cover complete shifts.....afterall no one covers my job when I am not there!!! I also started covering for my colleague in York (a half hour train ride away) as well as my own job and was travelling backwards and forwards everyday! (there is no end to my tallents LOL).
My job has changed over the years and I have taken on more responsbilities and as a result I can't cover for the other team (plus he odd spell of mat leave!!). I haven't covered the other team for over 6 years and wouldn;t have a clue what to do now!!
The other team has 6 people in it and they have let 2 people take annual leave and one guys has gone off on paternity leave (planned) so they are now struggling for cover. Today I found out that some of the team have been talking about me (not in a nice way) and asking why I can't cover after all I am getting paid for it!!!! WTF They need to sort out their own roster and cover their own fecking team!!!
The payrise I got really was a nominal amount and doesn't even cover the resposnibilty for my own job! Sory about the moan but it really upset me that people I thought I got on well with have been talking about me behind my colleagues..hence my rant on FB!!
Mara can you hurry up and build your empire so i can come and be your PA!!!
