I love this programme and especially Lisa as she is proving girls can do a mans job but after this series there is another one IRT (ice road trckers) most dangerous roads in the world where they take their big rigs round the narrowest most dangerous roads I know and admit i am sad but i love it and am secretly excited about this new series lol x

LMAO! You are pretty much witnessing the driving/road conditions of where I live. We do have ice bridges up here, but the most well known one is the one heading into Yellowknife. During the summer months, there is a ferry to take vehicles across it, the only other way in..is to fly. The amount of traffic is crazy up here, truckers being the number one! Love that show and Lisa is a tough little chick..shes my fav too! xxx

It's not as bad as you think...we have pretty decent road crews that grade and sand the roads pretty much 24/7 up here. Everyone buys decent tires for the winter as well. Not only that, you learn pretty darn quickly how to drive in it. Speed and slamming on brakes are usually what cause all the accidents. Although..moose..caribou..deer..cause alot of accidents too. See tonnes of road kill this time of year as they animals start to graze closer to the main road. Up here..the truckers are not well liked, as they hog the roads..slow down traffic to a crawl..they do speed when their loads are off and have caused countless of accidents and fatalities. Some of the drivers often stop here in our town as we are located right along the Alaska Hwy.

I suppose its because you are all prepared for it. A few inches of snow here and the country is at a standtill. We only grit main roads and side roads can be a treacherous nightmare, especially as most people only get 1-2 weeks a year practicing how to drive on them.

Roadkill Shocked If a moose came at me on the road I would freak out! Do they not end up killing people and charging at cars???

LOL! They have charged vehicles, but most are dead because they choose to cross the road at the worst times. The damage they do to the vehicles is crazy. Lesson one of winter northern driving is NEVER slam on your brakes or swerve suddenly to avoid hitting an animal. We have never hit an animal larger than a raccoon personally. Last year we hit a snowy owl..and that bothered me..the thing flew out of nowhere and the sound it made when hitting the grill made me cringe. We stopped to see if it was still alive and sadly it wasn't. My dad has hit three moose in his lifetime. The last one did so much damage to his truck it was a write off..the antlers came right thru the windshield and he is lucky to be here. He has had bad luck with moose..was attacked by one the summer before and saved my nephew from certain death at their cabin. No wonder he totally enjoys hunting season!

Like Jen says - if you learn to live with snow/ice its not so bad

When we were in colorado we were in a mini bus and the roads looked like ice - he didn't have chains or anything and we were shitting ourselves, but he managed to drive perfectly fine - if that was the UK the road would have been backed up with pile ups!

my favourite bit of ice road truckers is the computer animated disasters hahaha they are so melodramatic! you kind of always hope for something scary to happen though which is terrible cos then you feel bad when it does Smile
