seriously i don't know how much more i can take lily-ann has had about 8hours sleep in 3days...she spent today basically zombified...we've been up with her for 3nights, she doesn't cry in pain or anything...she just doesn't sleep! so tonight she fell asleep before even finishing her milk....so she must have been knackered right...? well 3hours later and she's awake again!!!! i really don't know what to do with her

i don't think there is anything herbal that would be suitable for her. a social worker type lady we spoke to at our play group said there is definitely other stuf they can try, but it's making the dr give in and try it...we've been using melatonin for about 4months now and while it worked at first, it's now doing nothing

Poor thing - and the rest of you Herbal sounds like an idea, or maybe other homeopathic stuff like massage, accupressure, refelxology, certain soporific foods maybe - hard knowing what could suit her age and needs though - is there any advice on the support/info groups and websites at all? Hope you find something that works, you must all be done in xx

There are a few different meds, so you need to go and see the Dr and really explain how this is affecting everyone.....Lily-Ann, and you all. The dose can be raised, or the medication changed. Valerian is a natural sleeping tablet, and it really works! I took it when I was going throught the divorce and not sleeping.....the first night I took it, I only woke up at 11am the next day . I will need to check for you though if it can be used in children, so bear with me!! xx

Found this so far, and there are some small studies of using Valerian in children with 'learning difficulties' http://health.howstuffworks.com/wellness/natural-medicine/home-remedies/home-remedies-for-insomnia3.htm The only thing about dosage I can find so far is that it should be amended to suit her weight, but im still looking, and will work out her dosage if you need me to!

Right so they say for children 100-600mg of tincture, but you should aim for the lowest dose possible (they say this because it is impossible to test/research herbal stuff properly, so they air on the side of caution) The tincture below is 500mg in 1ml, so I would say start with 0.25ml in a teaspoon of water (125mg), and work up....so then 0.5ml (250mg) etc. But run all this past a Dr first, because I may have missed something.....I just wanted to give you some hope http://www.hollandandbarrett.com/pages/product_detail.asp?pid=261&prodid=24
