What should I do? _
PostSubject: What should I do?   What should I do? EmptyFri Dec 24, 2010 9:17 pm

Well Dave and I weren't buying prezzies for each other this year (and tbh if I had bought some I'd have either stuffed them down his throat or returned them by now) But yesterday he came home with a bag of prezzies for me. Talk about a head *$%£! So now what do I do???????????????????

Do I get him a bottle of something and some socks and pants or something? I have no idea. I can't really afford to be splashing cash for the sake of it as I need to get some savings behind me. I'm NOT driving into town today as it will be hell but I can walk over to the supermarket, boots, next etc.

Someone help!!! xxxx

I would speak to him and explain that you had agreed not to get presents.

Men are so dumb.

I don't think I would buy anything. Like you say, you need all of your money now x x

I wouldnt spend a fortune on him, he doesnt deserve anything from you!!!! BUT, id maybe spend £10 on a cheap btl of aftershave (who cares if he likes it!), or socks and box of sweets and wrap it up from Amelia to him.

Get him something from Melie and that's it.

If he chooses to buy you something that is up to him it doesn't mean you have to reciprocate.
I wouldn't give them back either though just rise above it and be gracious.

I have no idea what he's playing at. He keeps trying to give me a cuddle and even kiss me and now he's bought me presents and I got a bunch of flowers yesterday What should I do? 548646 Yet we're not spending xmas together and he's making plans to sell our home?!?!?!?! What a dickhead! Why does he think its ok to kiss and cuddle when he has basically turned his back on you - I dont get it so I cant imagine you get it and it must be doing your head in. Shocked

I hate it when there is an agreement to not buy anything and then they go and buy stuff, cos it makes you feel bad!

Dan has done it..even though I had my Radley bag and he had his juicer! He bought me something from H&M and today I saw my name on his list...so getting me something else! Luckily I managed to reserve an xbox game at Argos to pick up later...otherwise I'd have felt bad tomorrow!

It sounds to me hunni like you need to get tough.

My ex did this to me. He kept saying it was over, but would then give me little bits of hope by telling me he still loved me, etc. sleeping together, blah blah.

Anyway, I ended up getting sick of it and stopped all contact. Within a week he came running back with his tail between his legs saying what an idiot he was.

Sometimes the only way that people (MEN!) realise what they have lost, is when they have lost it - so show him that you are not interested (even if you are).

We ended up splitting up a few months later (long story).

xx

Sounds to me like a)hes feeling like a complete arsehole (and so he should) or b)hes having 2nd thoughts

Either way i think you need to say to him 'wtf are you playing at. Either you have changed your mind and we can try and see how xmas goes or get your damn hands off me before i crush them with a meat tenderiser'

Not christmassy but you need to know he cant mess with you that way

scratch

You do right Lisa with pressies from Amelia. The rest is a proper brain f**k What should I do? 548646
I'm so sorry it's getting confusing for you.

And this is the fella who couldn't see why it would be a problem being separated but living together?!!

If he wants to kiss and cuddle he has to be in a relationship with you, which I'm pretty sure he's opted out of and declared no interest in retrieving (counselling etc.)

Sorry I'm just repeating what you already know - basically, from what I can gather this isn't your choice - it's his - so when he makes a move / gives gifts it must be so very hard to keep your defences up.

Try to make it clear to him in simple, short, repeated sentences where you stand. 'stop confusing me' or 'this is getting very complicated' or 'I'm trying to distance myself from you here, stop making it harder' - maybe along those lines. Hopefully that doesn't compromise your feelings while still addressing his mixed messages!

Hope you have a lovely Christmas eve with Amelia - focus on the two of you and take care xxx

Sounds like he now feels bad about his quite frankly twatish behaviour (which he should!) I agree with the other ladies that i would just say firmly that his behaviour is not on and he needs to accept he cant have it both ways xx
